Thousands of gamers are still waiting for any official announcements about the release date and price of the new Nintendo Switch. Even though the console is set to be launched in March, Nintendo keeps its silence about the specific date and price.
Some retailers are already taking pre-orders regardless the lack of information, and two of them might have leaked a couple of things about the console.
UK retailer GameSeek has the console already listed to pre-order at £198.50, which is about $245 USD. The retailer also announces March 17 as the release date for orders.
Although this can’t be considered as official information, the pre-order includes a guarantee for those who decide to order the console with anticipation. It ensures customers will pay the lower price if the console comes at a different cost.
Tech Times has also leaked some information about some of the features the Nintendo Switch will have. According to them, the console will come with non-removable batteries, Bluetooth and 5GHz Wi-Fi AC support.
Pokemon Sun and Moon, a new 3D Mario and a port of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are some of the games rumored that the new console will run. Naturally, nothing is sure until Nintendo finally reveals official information.
About Nintendo’s Switch
The new Nintendo looks very similar to a tablet, and it works with two detachable joysticks on the sides called Joy-Cons. They work individually or attached to a port to turn it into a traditional gamepad.
The console itself can be connected to a TV display using a docking station. Nintendo is marketing the Switch as a standard home console even though it can be removed from the television and be used as a portable console.
The Switch, which is Nintendo’s 7th major home console, works with flash ROM cartridges rather than the traditional optical discs, which makes it similar to the Nintendo 3DS.
The exact specs of the console have not been officially announced yet, but Nvidia confirmed the Switch would carry a custom system-on-chip from the line of products Nvidia Tegra. According to them, it is based on the same architecture other top-performing gaming graphic cards use.
Official Information about the Switch
All the official information, cost, specs and details about the Switch will be revealed at the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017. It will take place in Tokio, and it will be streamed on Nintendo’s Twitch channel on Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET.
