Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL) has finally unveiled its two new smartphones, the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL and they received positive reviews. Nonetheless, Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) can boast of its latest Windows phone, the HP Elite x3.

Even though the Google Pixel XL and the HP Elite x3 have different operating systems (OS), there is plenty of technical specs to compare between the two handsets. Most notably, both companies have gone all-in regarding hardware.

People could say the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL should be the ones up against the Pixel XL in the comparison. However, both Lumias have been out there for quite some time and are from another generation.

Google Pixel XL out-specs the HP Elite X3

The two devices are very similar in many aspects. They both sport AMOLED screens with 2560×1440 resolution. However, with 6.0 inches, the display of the HP Elite x3 is bigger than the 5.5 inches screen the Google Pixel XL has.

Looking into the processors, the Pixel XL features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 which overpowers and is more efficient than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 from the Elite. They both have 4GB RAM

Regarding cameras and built-in storage, the HP Elite x3 has the advantage. It has a 16 MP rear camera and comes with 64GB, which owners can expand via microSD up to 2000 GB.

Meanwhile, the Pixel XL includes a 12.3 MP rear camera and lacks a microSD slot for expansion. Instead, Google offers two models: 32GB and 128GB of storage.

Battery and price

The HP Elitex3 has a 4,150 mAh battery that is bigger than the Pixel’s 3,450 mAh battery. Regarding software, both smartphones natively run the latest versions of Windows 10 (Windows 10 Mobile) and Android (7.1 Nougat).

Although it hit stores earlier than the Pixel XL, the HP Elite x3 has nothing to envy from its Google rival. Its $799 price tag seems fair with those specs and more so when knowing the 32GB Google Pixel XL costs $769. Google’s 128GB model has a $869 price tag.
