Trump had concerns about the debate moderators' identities
Last Friday, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced the moderators for the 2016 United States presidential election debates. While Hillary Clinton committed to the event weeks ago regardless of whom they would be, Donald Trump did have concerns about their identity.
Trump is not a stranger to this kind of events. In January, he boycotted a primary debate because of some unsolved issues with moderator Megyn Kelly from Fox News. Instead, he hosted a town hall with charitable proceeds going to veterans groups.
So far, Trump has only complained about the time and date for the debates. Two of them clash with prime-time National Football League games. However, the Republican candidate will have a hard time with some moderators.
Holt versus Trump’s accusations
NBC’s Lester Holt will ask the questions during the first debate slated for September 26 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Holt casts doubts over some of Trump’s allegations in a June interview.
The Apprentice executive producer has repeatedly said Hillary Clinton was asleep during the 2012 attack on US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya and that her private email server got hacked. But when asked by Holt for evidence to support his claims, Trump simply hadn’t any.
Raddatz and Cooper not on good terms with Trump
ABC’s Martha Raddatz and CNN’s Anderson Cooper will lead the second debate at Washington University in St. Louis on October 9. Raddatz held Trump’s first interview after saying Senator John McCain was not a war hero.
When criticized, Trump always seems to respond with name-calling and has even demean some people’s physical appearance. She questioned if his language would continue once elected president. Trump said he only gives it back to people who attack him.
While Cooper finally convinced Trump to appear on CNN for the first time in more than two months, he ended up getting accused by Trump of being on Clinton’s side. Plus, Trump refers to CNN as the Clinton News Network.
Wallace against Trump’s immigration views
Fox’s Chris Wallace will moderate the final debate on October 19 at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Trump agreed to participate in two Republican presidential debates moderated by Wallace.
He clashed with Wallace in the first one for the issue of illegal immigration as Trump claimed the Mexican government was deliberately sending criminals into America illegally. However, Trump returned for the other without any excuse.
The presidential election is just two months away, with Hillary topping the polls by a six-point margin over Trump. So this is without a doubt Trump’s final chance to try and catch up Clinton.
