Earlier this week, Microsoft announced how the Xbox One will now support VR using its new Xbox One S controller. The announcement was made on Xbox’s official website on September 24th. Fans of the pixelated computer game Minecraft will get to debut this feature, as the game’s Gear VR Edition is the first game to enjoy.

Also, a patch was released for the controller to allow Bluetooth connectivity with the Oculus Rift‘s compatibility. To enjoy VR, players need to buy the new Minecraft edition along with an Xbox One S controller, and an Oculus Rift system. Also, they have to download the latest update for this controller on the Xbox Live service. This update is only available for the Xbox One.

With a cost of $15 (the same as the standard edition) Minecraft: Gear VR Edition is available for download on the Xbox Live Store. The Xbox One S controller has a price tag of $60 for the standard version or $80 if customers decide to personalize its color combination. Lastly, the Oculus Rift is available on Amazon for $600.

A Microsoft’s spokesperson mentioned the company expects to add more games to the VR experience in the future. First, Microsoft will update their old licenses and then they will focus on the new releases.

Microsoft has already created a short guide in their support section for Xbox One online. This will instruct users on how to set up the VR system in their consoles and how to correctly install the update.

More surprises for buyers

Ubisoft has already announced that their Oculus Rift will have exclusive games in the future. These licenses developed by the software company are going to be available for free for current owners of the VR gadget. The games that are on this list are Spirit Champion Herobound, Omega Agent, and End Space.

Microsoft moved forward and announced that the Xbox One owners would be able to enjoy the VR experience for these new releases on their consoles. Also, they plan to release more updates for the VR system for the Xbox One S controller to support them in the future.

Taking the VR experience across all devices

The Oculus Rift system has compatibility with most of Samsung’s newly released models to continue the VR experience outside. The next generation of Android games will support VR reality to some extent.

The current list of devices that support VR is Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Rumor has spread on many online forums on how this Android games could have cross-compatibility with Xbox One to keep playing on a Samsung device away from the console. A good example of how this could be done is with the Android version of Minecraft and it’s newly VR version for the Xbox One.
