Gaming laptops require one thing to receive that name, a lot of graphic processing power. Most of the best-selling models today accomplish this fact by packing large amounts of hardware into a noisy and bulky final product.
However, this trend might be coming to and end with the future ROG GX501 gaming notebook from ASUS.
The new ASUS machine looks to include the top-of-the-line NVIDIA GeForce 1080 GPU, which would make the GX501 one of the most powerful laptops currently in the gaming market.
Complementing specs for the ROG GX501
The laptop will also have a 15.6-inch screen with a 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, powered by the GPU mentioned above, and also NVIDIA G-Sync integration.
The GX501 is a Kaby Lake bearer, most probably packing an i7-7700HQ or a 7820HK with up to 24GB of the best (that is, DDR4) RAM. All of these powerful pieces of hardware fit on a 16.65-millimeter encasing.
To give an idea of its thinness, the GX501 is only six millimeters thicker than the overall thinnest laptop currently on sale, the HP Spectre.
The Alienware 13 R3, one of the most powerful gaming laptops available, is 23.3 millimeters. All three laptops contain arguably similar internal specs.

The ASUS upgrade is a rumor that came from a Taiwan Excellence Awards leak, a prize given to Taiwanese companies by country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
Many ASUS products have already received this award, mostly high-end laptops and desktops.
Asus wants to storm CES 2017
The Las Vegas Convention Center might keep ASUS as one of the year’s surprises. The company is also bringing along its GT51CH gaming desktop, featuring their famous design and incredible processing power.
The GT51CH comes with a twin set of GTX 1080S graphics cards and a Kaby Lake CPU similar to the one featured in the notebook mentioned above, up to an astounding 64GB of DDR4 RAM, enough to run virtually everything, and lots of HDD storage in SSD drives.
ASUS is also packing the Aegis III application for easier overclocking, and the CPU could reach a top performance of 4.8GHz. This desktop and other high-end products for their 2017 roster will showcase today and most of the week at their official booth.
