The 2017 Subaru Impreza is already available at the carmaker’s official website. There are five different Subaru models in the 2017 Impreza roster, and fans of the brand can visit the site right now and order theirs.
The automaker is building all the Imprezas in the United States, and the designers focused on two aspects over everything else: Efficiency and safety.
The company equipped the 2017 Imprezas with the trusted Subaru Boxer engine. The motor’s design and placing give the car an ultra low center of gravity which offers many technical advantages.
The final user will note the vehicle’s enhanced maneuverability, despite its size and weight. The engine is also fuel-efficient offering 38 MPG on the highway and 28 in the city.
Models and Engine specs
The Subaru Impreza 2017 is available in five different body configurations:
- 2.0i Sedan
- 2.0i 5-door
- 2.0i Premium Sedan
- 2.0i Premium 5-door
- 2.0i Sports Sedan
As the names imply, all the cars feature a 2-liter Subaru Boxer engine with four cylinders. It boasts 152hp at 6,000 RPM which hits the horsepower sweet spot for city cars. If you are not on a racing track, 200 to 250 hp is almost unnecessarily powerful.
The Subaru Boxer in the 2017 Imprezas’ torque tops at 145 lb-ft at 4,000 RPM which again is not bad for the average user.
All the cars from the 2017 lineup feature Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheeled drive, the vehicle dynamics control, and the traction control system. Also, the company threw in the incline start assist and the 4-wheel independent suspension.
This version of the Subaru Boxer feeds on 87 octane gasoline, and the tank can hold up to 13.2 gallons.
Design and Interior
Subaru is betting all on old-school durability. While many other manufacturers are using alternative materials like carbon fiber, the Japanese company used steel to make the 2017 Subaru Impreza.
Even though the company’s headquarters are in Japan, Subaru announced SIA (Subaru of Indiana Automotive) in Lafayette, Indiana, was going to built every 2017 Impreza. The National Wildlife Association has awarded the plant for its green-friendly practices many times.

The interior will be revested with sports cloth, cloth, or leather depending on the customer’s choice. There are five different standard combinations to choose from, including Ivory Leather and Black Sport Cloth.
An 8-inch screen controls Subaru Starlink, a multimedia platform that controls entertainment in the car. The 2017 Subaru Impreza will support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Pandora. Additionally, TomTom powers the navigation system.
Some of the Impreza versions include the Power Seat feature in the standard package. It gives the driver six possible configurations for maximum comfort. Another optional feature is the push to start feature favored by many consumers.
Finally, Subaru opted for a ring-shaped reinforcement frame and topped it with Roof Racking, so it’s both safe and practical.
EyeSight, Subaru’s Driver Assist Technology
EyeSight is basically an assistant that helps people with the driving. It tells them if they are getting outside their lane, for example.
The feature pairs with the electric power assisted feature. The idea is to make steering an effortless task, but EyeSight can use it to correct the course and put the car back in the right lane.
The assistant can also study traffic patterns ahead and foresee collisions. In emergencies, EyeSight could even activate full braking force, but it is an optional feature only available in certain versions of the Subaru Impreza 2017.
Price, availability, and offers
As of now, only two body types are available for purchase at Subaru’s official website: The Sedan and the 5-door. Customers can order theirs in eight different color options including Island Blue Pearl and Lithium Red Pearl, among others.
According to Subaru’s suggested retail price, the standard Sedan version costs $18,395 while the 5-door has a $18,895 price tag. The company is offering 1.9% APR- financing on all the models until January 3, 2017.
Interested customers can lease any of the available models for $175 a month on a 36-month plan without a security deposit.
All in all, the 2017 Subaru Impreza looks like a solid option for a family household. However, it would be a good idea to head to the official website and compare the models. This is especially true for people who like to personalize their ride.
