U.S. – Security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities, widely regarded as the world’s best Apple (AAPL) researcher, revealed Apple canceled new version of its iPhone SE.
MacRumors leaked the information. The news site assures the tech company will not release a new iPhone SE in the first half of 2017.
According to the Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is not going to continue its budget iPhone series because the company wants to maintain elevated prices on its high-end handsets. –
The iPhone SE is a budget friendly alternative to the 6th-gen iPhone. Apple says it is the most powerful 4-inch phone ever, and it has specs similar to the iPhone 6S‘ for a starting price of $399.
iPhone SE: specs, display, and camera
Many reviewers believe the iPhone SE is a better investment than the latest Apple smartphone, including authors from Forbes and The Verge digital magazines.
SE is lighter and smaller than most Apple devices. It is 4.87 inches long per 2.31 inches wide and weighs 3.99 ounces. An oleophobic coating protects the body.
It packs a 4-inch (diagonal) Retina screen with LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch display with 326 pixels per inch (ppi).
The SE packs the same A9 processor as the iPhone 6s with an M9 motion detector that handles the accelerometer, compass and the gyroscope for fitness tracking capabilities. Onboard memory is either 16GB or 64GB.
It has a 12MP back camera with 4K and 1080p HD video recording, while the front camera snaps 1.2MP photos.
It also packs the Touch ID security feature. The fingerprint sensor is on the screen which not only unlocks the phone but also activates Apple Pay.
Ming-Chi Kuo says iPhone sales will drop next year
Kuo forecast iPhone sells will decline in the first half of 2017 due to a rising demand for Chinese smartphones, slow shipment of 4.7-inch iPhones and because the new iPhone SE was canceled.
The expert believes the Silicon Valley giant could pressure some of its third-party manufacturers to drop prices to maintain its margins in Asian markets. He expects suppliers will begin price reductions next December.
Overall, the security analyst believes iPhone shipment volume will drop in the second quarter of 2017. It will be between 35 to 40 million, less than the 40.4 million it reported in the second quarter of 2016.
