U.S. – Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) stocked its online refurbished store with a broad range of cheap iPhone models. Customers now have a way to buy a certified rebuilt OS device at a low cost directly from Apple.
The company stated they had tested all the devices on Apple’s refurbished store, and the iPhones will sell with an extended warranty. The refurbished iPhones are SIM-free, so they are fully compatible with all U.S. carriers.
There are special deals for both refurbished and brand new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus. They come in a variety of colors and prices vary according to the storage memories of the phones.
All products are Apple certified. The devices come with a one-year limited warranty. Additionally, all phones come with 90 days of complimentary technical support. AppleCare Protection Plan or AppleCare+ support fees can extend the coverage further.
What is a refurbished device?
Sometimes, a device will get broken or damaged during the manufacturing process and reaches the stores anyways. They are called defect products. Some unlucky customers will end up buying one of them, but that is what warrants are for.
Once the person changes the defective iPhone, for example, Apple’s IT team will proceed to check the phone to find out what the problem was. Often, they repair the phones by fixing or changing parts. In this example, the resulting product is a refurbished iPhone.
Companies like Apple or Microsoft rarely sell refurbished gadgets. Instead, they make alliances with third party retailers that specialize on the matter. In fact, this is the first time Apple opts for this strategy since 2007.
In the fashion industry, there is a term for stores that sell repaired goods. These stores are called outlets, and they also exist in the tech world. Companies like Dell and Samsung have stores to re-sell things their RMA technicians fixed.
How much are the iPhones on Apple’s refurbished store?
The starting price of the standard 16GB iPhone 6S is $449, while a 16GB iPhone 6s Plus has a $529 price tag. They are around $100 cheaper than brand new iPhones.
The 32GB iPhone 6 and 6S cost $549 and $649 respectively. However, these ones are brand new and have never reported factory malfunctions.
There are special deals for Apple Macbooks, Macbook Airs, and MacBook computers, as well as other computer hardware, including offers for Mac Mini Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.
Lastly, Apple is offering the 5th generation 32GB iPod touch for $169 in colors yellow, blue and pink.
