One of America’s biggest carriers, Verizon Wireless, announced a huge buff on its navigation speed up to 300Mbps coming in the following weeks. Of course, users located in the major cities will enjoy this update shortly but only with a few selected devices that will support this new feature.
On the other hand one of Verizon’s competitors, T-Mobile, has its opinion on this matter.
Recently, Verizon Wireless has made an incredible offer to all its customers that are part of its family, a new upgrade on its network framework. The update will allow users to reach the tremendous download speed of 300Mbps on their devices if there are located in one, of the 460 cities in which the company has made the necessary investment to achieve this new service.
However if something sounds too good to be a truth, it probably is, and this case is no different as Verizon has mentioned that not every device will be able to support the update. Only high-end devices such as the newest Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 or the unreleased Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, more devices will be added to the list “soon” mentioned one of the representatives of Verizon Wireless.
These flaws on the project were noticed by one of Verizon’s biggest competitors T-Mobile. Soon after the announcement one of the top executives of T-Mobile, Neville Ray, who holds the position of Chief of Technology, made its claims using his personal blog challenging this announcement as a false one.
“That same technology has been available to T-Mobile customers since 2014, and we’ve already rolled out three channel carrier aggregation too.” Neville expressed while doing his analysis of the upgrade offered by Verizon named “Three-carrier aggregation”.
The Three-carrier aggregation is, according to Verizon, their answer to the needs of its costumers brought from Toronto to the U.S. by them. Nonetheless as mentioned before by Neville T-Mobile claims to have used this same technology in those cities before achieving similar results.
It remains unseen as this whole debate plays the role of a well-designed advertisement campaign of Verizon to be trending on the media or it’s just a poorly thought one, but it seems that October is the date in which users will be able to experience it on their devices.
