The ‘Titanfall’ developers Respawn Entertainment have teamed up with two mobile powerhouses to bring players a new mech adventure to their phones. Particle City and Nexon will deliver the strategy card game ‘Titanfall: Frontline’ this fall on Android and iOS devices for free.

The reveal follows the initial game announcement all the way back in 2015 when Respawn CEO Vince Zampella first stated that the company would partner up with Nexon and others. Ever since the launch of the ‘World of Warcraft’ multiplatform spinoff ‘Hearthstone’, many developers have seen advantages in using similar strategies.

Much like ‘Hearthstone’, ‘Titanfall: Frontline’ is a card-based strategy game that will consist of real-time battles between two players and will include multiple elements from the ‘Titanfall’ franchise. The mobile game creators announced that ‘Frontline’ would launch this fall, possibly aligning with the release of the much-awaited ‘Titanfall 2’ this October for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

What is ‘Titanfall: Frontline’?

When the mobile ‘Titanfall’ game partnership was first announced, it was kind of difficult to determine what kind of games would turn out from the collaboration. The first resulting title is ‘Titanfall: Frontline’, a card game set in the extended universe of the video game franchise.

Mobile players will battle one another using three primary elements of the ‘Titanfall’ lore: Pilots, Titans, and unique ability Burn Cards. These different kinds of cards must be assembled strategically, as players will face off in real time and must outsmart each other in the battleground.

“From dropping a Titan onto the field of play to turn the tide of battle to using a combination of Parkour and Rodeo Burn Cards to take a Titan down, ‘Titanfall: Frontline’ is unapologetically intense and utterly ‘Titanfall,’” said the co-founder of Particle City Larry Pacey.

The mobile title will feature hundreds of different collectible cards and players can develop different play styles to take on their opponents. Burn cards can trigger special effects during battle, whereas Titans and Pilot cards will ‘fight’ live in the arena.

‘Titanfall: Frontline’ will also include guild systems, meaning that players can join alliances and probably earn benefits from doing so. Commanders on the mobile game can also upgrade and customize the cards on their deck.

Players can pre-register for the upcoming mobile game and receive an exclusive Prometheus Titan Card and other in-game rewards on launch week.

‘Titanfall 2’ is scheduled for release on October 28, so Android and iOS fans can expect ‘Titanfall: Frontline’ to drop around that same time.
