On Thursday, Nintendo’s President, Reggie Fils-Aimé, had an interview with [a]listdaily’s John Gaudiosi. During the show, Fils-Aimé spoke about topics like the Wii-U, Nintendo NX, Pokémon GO, and more.
Fils-Aimé described the Wii U as a worthwhile concept. The Game Cube and the Wii weren’t as successful as the company expected, so they needed the Wii U to reach its primary audience.
To do so, Nintendo President said the engineers always do a breakdown of every project they work on, and they developed the second screen as a great concept.
Fils-Aimé said Nintendo should focus on making better games
Fils-Aimé mentioned successful games on the Wii U platform. Titles like Super Mario Maker, Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, Splatoon, Super Mario, and The Legend of Zelda. These games are by far the most highly rated and unique games rated by the media and its consumers said Fils-Aimé.
Nintendo’s president highlighted the importance of communicating the positioning for the product. Fils-Aimé stated the company needed to help the users understand the uniqueness of Nintendo experience.
Moreover, Fils-Aimé also highlighted the need to do a better job on software developing to create unique games leading to more people buying the console.
Nintendo will unveil the NX in Spring 2017
Back in June, Nintendo decided not to launch the new platform at the E3 as it did not match its marketing strategy. Instead, Nintendo decided to dedicate its booth entirely to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo’s president said the company’s strategy was to unveil the Nintendo NX in Spring 2017.
The Asian tech giant is currently enjoying an incredible success with Niantic’s Pokemon Go. The AR game placed the Pokemon franchise back at the top spot.
Even Legendary Pictures wants to capitalize on the hype. The filming studio announced it was working on a new Pokemon film.
“CERTAINLY, WE’VE SEEN THAT WE CAN CREATE AN APPLICATION THAT’S FUN, DISTINCTIVE, AND THAT HAS ALL OF THAT NINTENDO CHARM. AND CERTAINLY, WE’VE SEEN A HUGE AMOUNT OF CONSUMERS PARTICIPATION WITH THE APP, ESPECIALLY THE WIIPHOTO APP,” said Fils-Aimé.
Fils-Aimé talked about the Nintendo’s main goals
Nintendo’s President described the company’s overall mission was to make customers smile with its products. Fils-Aimé furtherly explained the four key pillars of Nintendo.
The first one is the dedicated video game business, the second is the mobile platforms, the third is its licensed merchandise, and the fourth is other entertainment projects like the current partnership with Universal Studios.
