PC gaming company Razer unveiled its latest over-the-top laptop, the 2016 Razer Blade Pro. The company assures it will set a new standard for gaming notebooks and that it will become the ultimate portable powerhouse running on Windows 10.

The 17-inch laptop is VR ready: it is the kind of octane-monster that could easily power Oculus or VIVE headsets. Its graphical boost comes from the Nvidia Pascal-based GTX 1080,  ready to deliver three times the performance and efficiency of previous-gen GPUs.

The Razer Pro is intended for power users. It is so over-the-top that its “desktop in your laptop” tagline might be an understatement: And it all comes in a 0.88” thin aluminum unibody chassis.

It packs double numbers in essential aspects like RAM, storage and screen resolution than previous Blade Pro

The “desktop inside your laptop” starts off with a 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor. The speed can go up to 3.5GHZ with the Turbo Boost feature.

Most of the graphical prowess comes from the Nvidia GTX 1080 (8GB GDDR5X VRAM). The GPU manages ultra-settings and 4K resolutions in almost any game. It is one of the sponsors of Microsoft’s Gears of War 4.

The Razer Pro comes loaded with 32GB DDR4 dual-channel memory at 2133MHz alongside a maximum of 2TB of PCLe SSDs storage. The advance memories boost gaming load times by a great deal.

The 17.3-inch IGZO (Iridium Gallium Zinc Oxide) touchscreen pops out a 4K resolution. The state-of-the-art screen enables 8.3 million pixels and the complete range of Adobe RGB color space.

Razer Blade’s advanced connectivity

The laptop sports the Thunderbolt 3 technology. It brings USC-type C ports at speeds up to 40Gbbps.

The port can connect USB, Display Port, PCI Express, and Thunderbolt devices. For external displays, a single cable provides four times the data and twice the video bandwidth as regular USB-C cables.

Blade Pro has an SD card reader, a USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0, Kensington Lock, Lan port, side speakers, and audio and mic jack. The Killer DoubleShot networking interface card it packs ensures ultra low latency in online games.

The world’s first ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard

Razer built the keyboard from the ground up to bring an experience that feels tactile, accurate, and responsive. It features a large glass pad on the lower right of the laptop and even a scroll wheel to compliment the layout.

Razer Chroma Lighting tech features 16.8 million colors that will light the buttons with endless possibilities for customization.

Developers can take advantage of the Chroma SDK to flash different colors with different game events, like a spark of brilliant colors on a kill streak or flashes of blue when a teammate is down.

Price and release date

The 2016 Razer Blade Pro will come out for $3,699.  Owners of the laptop are eligible for a free download and full license of music production suite FL Studio 12 Producer  Edition.

It has no release date just yet, but users can check their website to receive a notification when the machine is finally out.
