Netflix’s original series have been gaining popularity over the past year. The company recently surpassed their expectations for the fourth quarter of 2016, which granted them a 6.6% in stock trading, currently at $141.68 per share.
Starting with their hit series ‘Orange Is The New Black,’ their roster of most-watched content includes ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Fuller House,’ and their Marvel series, which will make a comeback later this year. Shows like ‘The OA’ have also received widespread critical acclaim.
Netflix says it will continue to invest in original content, introducing shows that spread “pan-regionally or across multiple territories, such as Japanese anime and Turkish dramas.”
Netflix is growing beyond expectations
Netflix has surpassed both their subscriber numbers and EPS (earnings per share) revenue, which grew to a total of 36% year-over-year. Overall, their stock (NFLX) jumped 9% on the news.
Their EPS reached $0.15, two cents above Wall Street’s projections of $0.13. In the fourth quarter, it netted $2.48 billion in revenue, exceeding the stock market’s suggested threshold 0f 2.47.
Netflix’s added 1.93 million total subscribers at the end of the year, well above Wall Street’s initial prediction of 1.38 million, and the company’s original forecast which pointed to approximately 1.45 million new viewers in the US.
Internationally, they received 5.12 million new adepts, while Wall Street though they could only reach the 3.78 million mark by the end of 2016.
The best original content on Netflix now and what’s to come
The comedy-drama ‘Orange is The New Black’ is already well-known and its fifth season might be coming this June. The comedy ‘Fuller House,’ currently with more than 21 million viewers is also an excellent entertainment option.
The action-adventure department brings Netflix’s Marvel series which include ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Daredevil,’ and ‘Jessica Jones,’ all of them set for upcoming new seasons. The company will also debut the superhero ‘Iron Fist‘ later in March.
For recent additions, ‘The OA’ has drawn a lot of attention and currently holds a solid 8-star rating on IMDb. Fantasy and mystery fans will most likely enjoy this series, especially is they liked last year’s ‘Stranger Things,’ currently up for a second season.
Netflix will also bring to its list the hit Jerry Seinfeld show ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee,’ and a new comedy with Veronica Castro, Aislinn Derbez and Cecilia Suarez, set to start filming in México later this year.
For fans of animation, record-breaking ‘Bojack Horseman’ is probably the best show right now, voiced by the talented Will Arnette and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, among others.
