The Marvel Cinematic Universe is ever-expanding into new shows and movies, but some fans of both the comics and the series have one constant conflict: Who would win in a fight of Daredevil vs. The Punisher?
The two characters have recently shared the screen on Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series. The second season of the show introduced The Punisher as a conflicted agent of chaos with a mysterious and troubled past.
Daredevil’s relationship with The Punisher on TV followed the comics, with both the hero and the antihero questioning each other’s crime-fighting methods.
Netflix’s Daredevil fans got but a small taste of what a fight between Daredevil and The Punisher could be like.
What are The Punisher’s skills and weapons?
The Punisher’s abilities in the art of killing are plenty, including extensive knowledge of martial arts and military training, as well as an arsenal of weapons and an excellent aim.
Frank Castle is the real identity of The Punisher. In the comics, Castle is a Vietnam War veteran who has undergone training in multiple disciplines with several of the world’s top military agencies.
The Punisher is a master of disguise, tactics, endurance, assassination, and torture. He is capable of standing the same methods he uses on his adversaries given that he possesses well-trained body and mind.
What are Daredevil’s abilities and powers?
Daredevil’s signature ability consists of his superhuman senses. Since the superhero was blinded in an accident as a child, the character developed an enhanced sense of smell, hearing, taste, and touch.
Matt Murdock is the real identity of Daredevil. His mentor, Stick, trained him in many different martial arts styles after he was blinded by a radioactive substance.
The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is also highly adaptable and has quick reflexes. Murdock can swiftly run and jump between buildings using his gymnastic abilities and parkour knowledge.
Daredevil’s signature weapon is a baton designed by himself, which also acts as a grappling hook and turns into nunchucks. Both in the TV series and in the comics, the hero, uses his stick against all his enemies.
Punisher would definitely Beat Daredevil
Despite all of Daredevil’s extrasensory abilities, The Punisher would defeat him in a fight if he didn’t feel conflicted about it.
The two characters have faced each other in the comics and the Netflix series, but none of their encounters have been conclusive enough to declare a clear winner.
In season two, Frank Castle could have killed Murdock but instead shot him in his head armor. The shot was so precise, even Melvin Potter told Matt his life was spared.
Daredevil’s armor is only so durable, and it wouldn’t stand a chance against a gunfire burst from one of the many weapons in Castle’s arsenal.
Moreover, his heightened senses are no match for a bullet. He can only dodge or run, not stop them or stand the blast like his ally Luke Cage.
All in all, Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher would end up winning a serious fight with Daredevil if it ever came to that.
Both ‘The Punisher’ and the new season of ‘Daredevil’ will premiere on Netflix in 2018. Perhaps, this time Marvel will show us a real match between Castle and The Man with No Fear.
