On Monday, Logitech announced their latest webcam: the Logitech Brio. Also marketed as the Logitech 4K PRO, the webcam broadcasts video at 4K UHD resolutions, supports Windows Hello, and its price is $199.

Logitech set out to create a camera that not only everyone would want but also that met the needs of users and the demands of a fast-paced industry. The Brio is aimed at both pro streamers and busy business people.

With its affordable price tag, the new cam is hoping to ride the wave of success that 4K technology is having in the mainstream market. More now than ever, monitors and video recorders are offering these high resolutions as a standard.

Logitech Brio: Specs and Design

The 4K PRO or Brio cam by Logitech is all black and has a sleek body that sits horizontally on top of the clip to attach it to the computer or laptop.

It shoots video at 4K Ultra HD resolutions (4096 x 2160) at 30 fps. Full HD broadcasts and video calls can be made from 30 up to 60 fps.

Lower resolution video is available at 720p for conferences at 30, 60, and 90 fps. Logitech claims the range of the Brio makes it “their best webcam ever.”

Features of the 4K PRO include RightLight 3, a proprietary HDR technology by Logitech that adjusts light levels in the video to compensate for too bright or too dark environments.

The cam also covers a 90º field of view that can shorten with Logitech software. It supports 5x digital zoom as well, but only while in Full HD mode or lower.

The Brio features two omnidirectional mics on the sides of the webcam as well as infrared detection sensors. These sensors work with Windows Hello to authenticate users trying to log into a device.

Logitech’s 4K PRO cam includes a removable clip, a USB 3.0 cable for connections to the computer or laptop, and a carrying case to take it anywhere.

Logitech Brio: System Requirements

Only users with Windows 7 or higher will be able to use the Logitech Brio. However, those with the oldest OS version will not even be able to enjoy 4K resolutions as they are not supported by this system. 8.1 and only Windows 10 users can use all the video settings.

Apple fans will not have any issue if they have a machine running on MacOS 10.10 or higher, the company says. Chromebook users, on the other hand, will need to meet a set of minimum requirements.

Laptops running on Chrome OS will need at least a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 processor, 2 GB of RAM, HDD or SSD storage space, and a compatible USB port with 3.0 data transfer speeds.

Logitech Brio: Price and availability

The $199 price is the same for business clients and regular customers alike. What changes is the name of the webcam, but the specifications are the same for both the Logitech Brio and the Logitech 4K PRO.

Logitech’s latest cam is eligible for free shipping, although currently is only available for pre-order in the United States at the company’s official site, Amazon, and Best Buy.
