Smartphone maker HTC is upgrading its HTC 10 handsets to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The update will arrive at all U.S. customers with an unlocked HTC 10 as of Friday, November 25.

The company announced both on the @HTCUSA and @HTC Twitter accounts. The software upgrade will be very similar as it was Android 6.0 Marshmallow at launch, with only a few other apps from HTCC from the get go.

Nougat is a highly reviewed update for Google’s mobile operative system. However, Android has always been very slow to update its devices to the latest OS, sometimes taking up to six months to reach some key players of the operative system like Samsung.

HTC is the third brand that will be rolling out with Android 7.0

Nougat will only hit free HTC 10 devices on Friday. The Taiwanese company said that carrier editions of the HTC 10 would get Android Nougat early 2017. One M9 phone will also get the upgrade next year.

HTC smartphones will most likely get Nougat 7.0 and not 7.1 because the former has not been formally released yet. It is only available for Pixel and Pixel XL phones, and in a beta stage on other Nexus mobile devices.

There are no official announcements as to when the rest of the brands are getting Android Nougat. HTC became the second non-Google name to get the coveted upgrade, ahead of LG’s V20 and G5 devices. Samsung is also running a beta version on its Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones.

Nougat brings a slightly new look, improved widget and notifications, and the advanced Google Assistant, as well as Insta Apps feature and better multi-window support.

HTC 10 is the company’s flagship device

HTC launched in April 2016, and it currently has a price tag around $540. The phone packs a 5.2-inch Super LCD5 capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors, 565ppo pixel density, and 1440 x 2560 resolution.

It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor with an ANdreno530 GPU. It has either 32GB or 64GB storage and holds 4GB RAM.

The back camera has 12MP, and it has OIS, laser autofocus, dual-led flash, and check quality feature. It can record videos at 2160p at 30fps or 720p at 120fps.

The front camera has 5MP, OIS, autofocus, and HDR. The selfie camera snaps pictures with a resolution of 1080p. Finally, it has a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery that runs for 456 hours on standby or 27 hours of 3G navigation.
