2016 was a good year for Virtual Reality. Many are the companies that have gotten involved in this wonderful world of immersive and vivid experiences where people interacts with digital world thanks to the VR headsets.

In this category of devices, only a few companies are putting tremendous efforts into the development and improvements of such headsets. So, if you are a VR lover, this article might be what you are looking for!

The lavish one

We can start talking about the first headset that came out to the market and one of the most popular. We are talking about the Oculus Rift.

The Oculus Rift includes built-in headphones and mic, a low-latency constellation tracking system, and it works with a field of view of 110 degrees and a tracking area of 5 x 11 feet.

All these specs make the Oculus Rift a pretty decent competitor in the world of VR, getting excellent reviews from many users around the world.

One of the disadvantages of the Oculus is the cost. People can find it on Amazon for $1,749.99 plus free shipping with all its accessories. Maybe a little bit more than most users are expecting to pay.

The practical one

Another headset that rapidly climbs onto this list is the HTC vive. With a display resolution of 1080 x 1200, it is one of the favorite gears on the market right now.

The HTC vive also includes built-in audio and mic, accelerometer, gyroscope, laser tracking system and a front-facing camera.

With a tracking area of 11 x 11 feet, it gives you a better tracking range than the Oculus Rift. This headset is cheaper than the Oculus, at the cost of 799$ on Amazon.

The one leading the race

Last but not least we have the headset that is leading the VR market right now, even though it was one of the last ones to come out. Of course, we are talking about the PSVR, the PlayStation Virtual Reality.

SuperData has just shared a report that shows the PSVR is leading the market, with a total of 700,000 shipped units. That number doubles the amount of Oculus Rifts, and Sony did it in a shorter period.

This incredible headset includes an expansive 5.7” OLED 1080p display that is capable of running at up to 120 frames per second.

It also includes 3D audio technology, which allows you to hear and differentiate sounds that come from above, below and behind, as well as the distance, and a refresh rate of 120Hz, 90Hz.

One of the disadvantages is the field of view, which barely reaches 100 degrees. However, it might be the cost what also makes it so attractive. You can find it on Amazon for 689$ free shipping included.

When it comes to VR, these are the three options you might want to check out before hitting the stores.
