The coming of Nintendo Switch also marks the arrival of the much-expected and already critically acclaimed ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild‘ game, which had new features revealed yesterday and will most likely come out in late June of next year.

A Reddit thread (also from yesterday) surfaced with a photo from a UK GAME store. The picture had the release date for both the Switch console and the new Zelda game for March 2017.

Nintendo has already stated officially that Switch and ‘Breath of The Wild‘ will not meet for a joint release because the latter is still not ready. However, most gamers still hope to break out their new Nintendo systems with one of the best Zelda games of all time.

Nintendo revealed a new type of Guardian yesterday

A picture of a nameless Guardian surfaced yesterday on Nintendo’s official Facebook page. The creature looks very close combat-oriented and sports three different types of swords in each hand.

Guardians will be the main enemies in Breath of The Wild. They are giant mechanical creatures that Link will find sleeping on temples and shrines. Some of them are “small,” just like the one Nintendo unveiled a day ago.

A second picture shows Link battling this very Guardian and wearing the Champion’s clothes, which points out to this enemy appearing somewhere in the middle of the game. It is also another look at BOTW’s gameplay, already showcased in a video last month.

Fans are not happy about Nintendo’s date confusion

Many avid gamers have taken to social media in protest against Nintendo’s confusion with release dates, a problem that also includes the end date of the Wii U’s production.

The Wii version of Breath of The Wild is currently undergoing development issues, according to some online sources, and it is possible that it won’t come out at all. However, this would be good news for many Zelda fans as the cancellation of a Wii version means more time and effort put into the Switch release.

In the end, Nintendo loyalists will still have to wait a few months until they get both the game and the console. The company has sadly proven that even the most precise release date can suffer a delay of months (or even years).

Other recent rumors about the Switch

A January event will bring more details on the upcoming console and might shed some developments on ‘Breath of The Wild.’

A teaser for ‘Beyond Good and Evil 2’ is also in the works, some sources claim, and many people point out to the Switch costing less than $300, albeit for an entry-level version of the console.
