Back in June Ubisoft announced the sequel to Watch Dogs. Last month, on the E3, Ubisoft revealed more details about the title.
Watch Dogs 2 will take place in San Francisco. The game will feature the same leading character, hacking expert, Marcus Holloway. It also features a bigger and better open-world map than its predecessor.
The official trailer for Watch Dogs 2 revealed some game settings. It also confirmed its protagonist and the massive open world. The trailer first debuted as a World Premiere Livestream that showed massive amounts of information about the gameplay.
Game modes and weapons
During its live stream, Ubisoft also released a trailer about Marcus Holloway. On the trailer, Holloway is Isolated from society for a crime he did not commit. The trailer gave more insight on the protagonist’s abilities.
According to the trailers, the game biggest features will be hacking and social media. The title will allow players to hack any nearby camera, vehicle, and a set of devices. Hacking can be use to terrorize citizens on San Francisco or to deal with enemies. Helicopters, dune buggies, and even Ferraris which saw a couple of screen seconds in the trailer.
Watch Dogs 2 will also implement a new multiplayer system. During the game, players will be able to make teams with other players on missions or to explore the open world.
Ubisoft also introduced the Bounty Hunter multiplayer mode. This mode is activated when people end up causing too much chaos across the city. Up to 3 players can be sent to hunt them down in their world. Multiplayer modes are completely option on the game.
The developers revamped the engines for the new title. The melee combat system changed to adapt weapon customizations. Holloway’s primary weapon will be a billiard ball.
Ubisoft also revealed that even after upgrading the fighting engines, the game could be completed without hurting anyone with the implementation of a new stealth system.
Cost and release date
Watch Dogs 2 will arrive on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15, 2016. Ubisoft confirmed all the downloadable content for Watch Dogs 2 would be coming on PS4 30 days earlier than any other platform. That is probably because Ubisoft Montreal is leading the project.
The standard edition costs 59.99$, and it only includes the game. The Deluxe version costs 69.99$, and it includes the game along with a seasonal pass.
Lastly, the gold edition costs 99.99$. It contains two Deluxe Packs filled with premium customization items to personalize the character, weapons, vehicles, drones and more.
“It felt exactly like the game we hoped the original would be. It’s clearly meaty – the map is huge –, and the writing and art direction are as full of attitude as the original was bland.” Said Steve Boxer, Guardian Games writer.
Even though the game will be available starting November 15, it is possible to pre-order it, and people who do so will get a bonus mission called ‘The Zodiac Killer.’
