semantic endpoint protection

Microsoft made Windows 10 available as an upgrade last year to all Windows Users free of cost. It is around the same time the Symantec released an upgrade to its Endpoint Protection program to add compatibility to Windows’ latest operating system.

The latest Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6 package allows users that are either migrating to Windows 10 from earlier versions of the platform, or those that are already on Windows 10 to secure their devices from end-to-end.

If you have had Symantec before and wish to upgrade to Windows 10

If you have had earlier builds of Symantec’s Endpoint Protection program installed on your computer and are migrating to Windows 10, you must ensure to uninstall all previous versions of the Symantec program. You will then need to install the newest version of the software (12.1.6 package) and the appropriate maintenance packages for the relevant upgrade path chosen.

If you have never had Symantec Endpoint and are already on Windows 10

If you’ve never used Symantec’s Endpoint Protection on your device, you will need to purchase a license on Symantec’s website. If you already have your Symantec Endpoint Protection license, you can download the 12.1.6 package for Windows 10 from FileConnect.

  1. Once the file is downloaded run the setup.exe file from a physical drive or disc if possible.
  2. Hit ‘Install Symantec Endpoint Protection‘ as well as ‘Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
  3. Once you agree to the terms and conditions you will be asked to select a destination for the program to be installed in.
  4. Once the installation process is complete, you will need to configure the required settings from the ‘Management Server Configuration Wizard’ that will open on your screen automatically.
