Samsung is looking to get back on track with their best-selling Galaxy lineup after the Note 7 exploding phone fiasco last year. Yesterday, two new Korean-made videos surfaced showing what could be the new edge-to-edge AMOLED display phone.

This leak serves as an excellent opportunity to revise the recent rumors concerning the Galaxy S8, which will signify a complete redesign on Samsung’s approach to marketing.

A rumored unveiling date for the new phones, Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge, is next April. The official launch should then come in May, and the price is still a complete mystery.

Samsung’s S8 screen

The leaked videos show the screen taking up to 90% of the phone’s area, moving the S8 design a step closer to the bezel-less handsets that online reviewers currently advertise on rumor mills.

They also show the new device might finally get rid of the Home button, putting everything, including the fingerprint scanner, right into the screen.

Recent rumors also indicate the phone will hold either a 5.1″ or 5.5″ display, and the video suggests that it might be the latter.

The Galaxy S8 would have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835

Samsung might put the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in these new devices. The processor top performance of 3.2 GHz makes it the obvious choice for Samsung’s premium lineup reboot.

However, there is another processor that competes directly with the 835, the Exynos 8895. Recent rumors indicate the company might include this one in the Edge variant of the phone.

The Exynos coupled with a Mali-G71 GPU would bring the phone up to VR standards, one of Samsung’s biggest investments in the current year. Minimum specs would also include 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.

The S8 will most likely feature Nougat 7.0, which will become the standard by the time Samsung puts it out on the market. Talk of a Samsung-made personal assistant, such as Siri, has also surfaced throughout the internet.

Camera and other features

A dual-camera might be Samsung’s best bet for the S8 based on recent suggestions. The rear lens will probably peak at 13MP with a front camera close to 8MP. Some rumors say that Samsung might get rid of the 3.5mm jack for USB-C audio, but this is unlikely.

The newly leaked videos also show some images regarding battery consumption, which is something the company currently focuses on improving because of last year’s scandal.

A short infographic seems to suggest that the phone’s AMOLED display and build substantially enhance its standby life and talk times. Recent leaks point out to a 4200mAh battery and a possible glass back for better charging (which the video does not show, however).
