Samsung Electronics has recently launched the Galaxy C9 Pro smartphone in India, after initially releasing it in China late last year. It is a near-flagship device, and it costs Rs. 36,900, or approximately $560.

The Galaxy C9 Pro is the latest handset of the C Series to make a debut in emerging markets. This affordable phone series was designed specifically for this consumer sector, where the tech giant faces fierce competition from other manufacturers.

Samsung is coming back with a vengeance after the unfortunate recall of the Galaxy Note 7. The company announced it would sell several of the remaining devices as refurbished, safe phones in some markets. It also debuted the much-expected Galaxy S8 and S8+ last week.

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro: Design and display

The Galaxy C9 Pro is the first of the series to carry the Pro moniker. As such, it has a more high-end finish than its brothers, the C5, and the C7, sporting an all-metal body and premium components.

Users will face a great 6.0-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080 x 1920 resolutions protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Pixel density is a little low at 367 ppi but good enough for a device with its specifications.

Samsung’s latest C series phone comes in Gold, Rose Gold, and Black colors, and it will feature all the signature buttons of company-made handsets.

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro: Specs and features

Inside, there is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor along with an Adreno 510 GPU. Many users have pointed out that, for its price tag, Samsung should have included a better chip than this one.

The C9 Pro comes in just one memory configuration, packing 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, expandable up to 256 GB with a microSD card. Reports claim you will need the extra space, as bloatware leaves only 40 GB or so of available memory.

Aside from this, the smartphone has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button, and a rather odd choice for Samsung: stereo speakers at the bottom of the device.

Both the front and rear cameras of the C9 Pro have 16 MP with f/1.9 apertures, and they can shoot video in 1080p at 30 fps. A non-removable 4,000 mAh battery powers the device, and it supports fast charging via USB-C.

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro: Price and availability

The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro, like other devices of the series, is only available in select markets including China and India. The price tag on this premium phone is Rs. 36,900 in India, which would make it worth roughly $560 if it ever came to the U.S.
