Rockstar Games has confirmed the much-expected ‘Red Dead Redemption’ sequel. After teasing it for two days, the American video game publisher unveiled the first trailer for ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ on its official YouTube channel.
The studio behind ‘Grand Theft Auto’ and ‘Max Payne’ franchises teased the upcoming title with cryptic images on Twitter. Fans quickly caught up Rockstar was hinting at a sequel for the critically acclaimed ‘Red Dead Redemption.’
Although it is a sequel to the 2010 game, ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ is the third installment in the ‘Red Dead’ series. The first trailer of the game hit the web on Thursday, the same day in which Nintendo unveiled its new Switch console and more trailers for ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.’
A Red Dead Redemption 2 map leaked
The upcoming ‘Red Dead’ sequel may turn out to be a prequel. A Neogaf user posted an alleged map of the game showing Rockstar Games will take players further east rather than the heart of the Wild West.
The same parties that got their hands on the map confirmed it was legitimate. They also confirmed the story of ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ happens before the events of the previous title.
At first glance, players noticed an interesting addition to the game based on its map: Water. Rockstar did not program swimming into ‘Red Dead Redemption,’ but it looks like there are two islands and a large swamp area in the upcoming game.
New vehicles
The trailer unveils a canoe and a buggy cart which would join horses and trains in the transport method department.
The video also shows beautiful scenery with an excruciating detail on wildlife and nature. Almost in every shot of the trailer, some animal or herd is present on a scene full of grass, trees, hills, or mountains.
However, fans were keen to notice that no actual gameplay made it to the first trailer. People will have to wait a little longer to get more details, and it seems Rockstar Games wants to use an online open world similar to GTA Online.
Red Dead Redemption Online will arrive the PS4 first
Rockstar Games and Sony have formed an alliance for the upcoming ‘Red Dead’ title. The game will have timed exclusive features on the PlayStation 4 while Xbox One players will have to wait to experience them later.
One of the primary benefits for PS4 owners is they will get first access to the online multiplayer experience of ‘Red Dead Redemption 2.’ Sony asked players to stay tuned for more news shortly.
‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ will land on PS4 and Xbox One consoles in the fall of 2017. PC players are currently pushing a campaign for Rockstar to launch the game for PC as well.
