Former ‘Friends’ star, Matt Leblanc, attended the TCA Summer Press Tour on August 10. There, he held a Q&A panel for his upcoming CBS show, ‘Man with a Plan.’ Naturally, the discussion quickly drifted towards the hit show and his portrayal of the American Italian actor, Joey.

When asked about his time on “Friends” and particularly about his relationship with co-star Matthew Perry, who played Joey’s roommate Chandler on the beloved series, the “Man with a Plan” answered they still kept in touch, and it is like nothing had changed.

Fans of the cultural phenomenon that was “Friends” still long for anything remotely close to a reunion celebrating the latest semi-gathering of the original gang back at the end of February.

“I saw him yesterday. He’s one stage away. I love that guy” said the 49-year-old actor. “I could not see him for five years, and then put me in a room with him, and it would be like I saw him yesterday,” he further added.

On that occasion, LeBlanc joined Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer to honor the veteran TV director James Burrows in a special program. The special “Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows” aired on NBC, the home channel of “Friends.”

Joey and Chandler are roomies again at CBS

Matt LeBlanc first gained notoriety for his portrayal of the iconic Joey character on the ‘Friends’ sitcom, which aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004. The consistently acclaimed show also featured Matthew Perry as the sarcastic Chandler, the signature role for which he is still recognized
.
Fast-forward to 2016, and a little more than 12 years since the series finale, the two roommates are now literally under the same roof again. When LeBlanc stated that Perry was “one stage away” he truly meant it. Matthew Perry stars in the CBS comedy “The Odd Couple” that first aired in 2015.

Coincidently, ‘The Odd Couple’ and the upcoming ‘Man with a Plan’ are multi-camera sitcoms, just like ‘Friends’ was. Moreover, ‘The Odd Couple’ features Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon, who besides starring in the Zac Efron film ’17 Again’, also appeared in two episodes of the hit comedy show back in 1999.

The third season premiere of “The Odd Couple” airs on Monday, October 17 at 9:30 and “Man with a Plan” debuts the following week, October 24 at 8:30.
