On Wednesday, fans received the first sneak peek of upcoming action thriller movie John Wick: Chapter Two with a teaser. The full trailer for the sequel to Keanu Reeves’ 2014 hit film John Wick drops at New York Comic Con this month.

In the 17-second preview, John Wick is seen suiting up, as well as gearing up, for a social affair in Rome, Italy. Filming also took place in New York City. Principal photography on the film began in October 2015.

Those who saw the first movie should remember that legendary hitman John Wick came out of retirement to avenge his puppy’s murder. The beagle was a gift from his recently deceased wife. This time around, the title character has a new dog.

In addition to the teaser, Lionsgate has also released two photos from the production. One features Wick walking on a bridge with a pit bull. Fingers crossed for his new sidekick. The second shot shows him in what appears to be a nightclub.

Keanu Reeves was paid $2.5 million to play John Wick once again

In May 2015, Lionsgate green-lighted the movie. The film studio confirmed that Keanu Reeves, screenwriter Derek Kolstad, and directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, would return for the John Wick sequel.

John Wick: Chapter Two stars Keanu Reeves as Jonathan “John” Wick, also known as “Baba Yaga.” Reportedly, the actor was paid $2.5 million for his role. Other returning characters include Ian McShane’s Winston, John Leguizamo’s Aurelio, and Bridget Moynahan’s Helen Wick.

Common will portray the henchman of a female villain who should probably be actress Ruby Rose. She got cast in an unspecified role. The film also features Thomas Sadoski, Lance Reddick, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Peter Stormare. Meanwhile, Laurence Fishburne will make a cameo as a character called The Bowler King.

Back in the saddle: John Wick returns to theaters and debuts on consoles

“JOHN WICK IS FORCED BACK OUT OF RETIREMENT BY A FORMER ASSOCIATE PLOTTING TO SEIZE CONTROL OF A SHADOWY INTERNATIONAL ASSASSINS’ GUILD. BOUND BY A BLOOD OATH TO HELP HIM, JOHN TRAVELS TO ROME WHERE HE SQUARES OFF AGAINST SOME OF THE WORLD’S DEADLIEST KILLERS,” reads the official synopsis of the film.

John Wick: Chapter Two hits theaters on February 10, 2017. Further chapters should arrive in the future. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has said his company sees John Wick as a multiple-title action franchise. At the 2016 CinemaCon, Reeves also hinted to more sequels.

Alongside the film’s first trailer, Lionsgate has been offering a seven-minute preview of Starbreeze’s virtual reality game John Wick Chronicles at New York Comic Con (October 6–9). Based on the sequel, the game will launch in February 2017 for the HTC Vive and Steam VR.
