Jaguar Cars introduced the ‘F-Pace,’ the company’s first SUV, on May 25, 2016. According to official statements, the automaker started working on a big luxury vehicle to keep up the pace with its competitors. Jaguar realized the market was changing,  especially in the U.S., and acted accordingly.

Jaguar first announced its F-Pace SUV in September 2015. The renowned automaker assured its intentions to put Jaguar’s iconic features into a big luxury SUV. In short, the company wanted to combine the precision of a Jaguar with the luxury and comfort of a big car.

By the time the 2016 F-Pace was officially announced, Jaguar had already tested the SUV in special events proving what a skilled driver can do with one of its new SUVs. In fact, the F-Pace holds a Guinness World Record for a 360 loop.

Jaguar F-Pace specs and models 

There are six default configurations available for customers. All with different purposes and specifications.

The base model is the Jaguar F-Pace. It has 2.0 L, four cylinder engine. The motor has 180 hp and a maximum torque of 318 lb-ft. The F-Pace has an eight-speed automatic transmission and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds.

Jaguar built this SUV with the American Market in mind, so the engineers put special effort into making it eco-friendly. The fuel tank can hold up to 15.9 gallons, and according to the company, the SUV can cover 29 mpg (combined estimate) which is not bad for a  5-ton car.

Along with the base version, Jaguar announced five other configurations named F-Pace Premium, F-Pace Prestige, F-Pace R-Sport, F-Pace S, and F-Pace First Edition. They all have special features that make them unique, and people can customize them on the website.

However, they all have something in common. Customers can choose the V4 engine or a supercharged 3.0 L V6 engine. The latter has 360 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.

The V6 also sports an eight-speed transmission and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. According to the company, it has a top speed of 155 mph, but that these numbers could change with the configuration of the vehicle.

The F-Pace cabin is big. It has the standard five seats in two rows configuration. They all have eight automatic positions, and there are lights spread all over the cabin, so users have different lighting options.

Jaguar added a bracelet called ‘activity key.’ It can lock and unlock the car just by pressing a button and can be concealed with ease. Also, customers can open the trunk by putting their feet under the SUV from the rear.

The F-Pace also includes a driving assistance feature. It monitors the driver and helps him keeping in the lane. Customers can also activate the parking assistant. They only have to control the brakes and accelerator and the system will handle the steering.

Among the safety features, the autonomous emergency braking stands out. The system can detect if the SUV is on a collision route. First, a warning will appear on the touch display alongside an audible alert. If the driver does not change the course, the system will activate the breaks automatically.

Jaguar F-Pace price

The SUVs are available on Jaguar’s official website and different retailers in the United States.

The default F-Pace SUV costs $40,990, and the most expensive are the F-Pace First Edition with a $69,700 price tag. However, the cost will vary depending on what the customer wants.
