After multiple sex scandals, Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin is separating from her husband and former Congressman, Anthony Weiner. Mrs. Abedin announced the breakup on Monday, following recent news of inappropriate messages between Mr. Weiner and a woman via social media.

On Sunday, Anthony Weiner informed his wife about an upcoming report from The New York Post. According to the story, the congressman had been sexting with another woman. He also sent a picture of him laying in his underwear, next to the married couple’s 4-year-old son.

Soon after learning the news, Mrs. Abedin released a press statement confirming the separation. The aide assured she and Mr. Weiner would remain devoted to doing what is best for their son.

The decay of Anthony Weiner

On May 2011, Mr. Weiner began what would become a series of sexting scandals. First, he sent a picture of his erect penis concealed by boxer briefs to a 21-year-old college student from Seattle, Washington.

The Yfrog link appeared on Weiner’s Twitter account. And although the congressman quickly removed the photo from the network, screen shots of the image appeared on numerous websites over the following days. Mr. Weiner initially denied ownership of the picture.

Then, blogger Andrew Breitbart posted a shirtless picture of Mr. Weiner and claimed the congressman had sent more. Soon after, Weiner finally admitted his actions at a press conference in New York on June of 2011. Mrs. Abedin stood by her husband.

However, the congressman didn’t leave office until later that month. After being pressured by several politicians from both parties, Mr. Weiner held another news conference to announce his resignation from Congress.

On the other hand, Huma Abedin began working for Hillary Clinton a the age of 19 as a White House intern. For over a decade, she has been indispensable to the Democratic nominee.

Mrs. Abeding worked with Mrs. Clinton on her previous 2008 presidential race, as well as during her period as Secretary of State.

Mrs. Clinton even referred to Abedin as her second daughter during the aide’s wedding, according to The Guardian.

The Republican presidential candidate sided with Mrs. Abedin in a statement for the New York Times on Monday. He said the aide was making a very smart desition, as he knows Anthony Weiner Well.

Then, Mr. Trump criticized Hillary Clinton and suggested Weiner’s behavior may have compromised national security.

“IT’S JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HILLARY CLINTON’S BAD JUDGEMENT. ITS POSSIBLE OUR COUNTRY AND ITS SECURITY HAVE BEEN GREATLY COMPROMISED BY THIS,” he said.

Anthony Weiner deleted his Twitter account before his wife’s statement on Monday. The former congressman hasn’t commented on the separation yet.
