Hewlett-Packard has revamped its latest laptops to bring a top-tier Windows alternative to the Macbook. The Spectre x360 arrived at HP’s official store and BestBuy on October 12, and the company will release the new Envy models on October 26.
HP’s new laptops come with hardware improvements, batteries that last long and new features that work with Windows 10. These new devices are also an answer to the company’s recent sales drop.
The convertible Spectre x360 portable, along with the Envy laptop and the Envy all-in-one PC will become the latest signature products in the company’s lineup.
Specter x360: Features, specs, and price
The company’s thinnest model yet, the new Spectre measures 13.8mm when closed, and it is also the lightest yet weighing only 2.85lbs (1.2 kg). The rotating hinge allows the user to turn it into a tablet or a convenient flatscreen. Its casing is all aluminum which grants it elegance and durability.
The laptop will feature Intel’s latest generation of processors from the Kaby Lake family with an entry-level i5 option and an i7-7500U upgrade which clocks 2.7Ghz (but can reach 3.5GHz). This version packs 8GB of RAM and a 256 GB Solid State Drive.
The laptop will also contain two USB Type-C ports, the ability to charge other devices while hibernating, full HD or 4K (depending on the chosen model), 2×2 Wi-Fi antenna, faster charging times, and HP’s TrueVision FHD IR camera.
The laptop will feature Quad speakers powered by Danish audio experts Bang & Olufsen, also sporting HP’s trademark Audio Boost.
Price starts at $1049.99 on HP’s official online store. As stated above, it is upgradeable in almost all of its features, with HP charging about $150 per modification.
The Envy notebook 13″ and Envy all-in-one
The new ENVY laptop will start at $829. It is all-metal and highly scratch resistant. It comes in three versions: The 13″ displaying FHD and QHD+, the 15.6″ and 17″ featuring UHD/4K displays.
It can go as far as 14 hours on one charge and is capable of recharging to 90% in approximately one hour and a half with HP fast charge. The laptop will also feature Bang & Olufsen’s audio technology.
The new Envy will feature Kaby Lake Intel processors, one USB-C, and two USB 3.0 ports. It is upgradeable to up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM. The official website does not yet specify the starting specs, though.
The all-in-one desktop variant comes with a 27″ screen that can display QHD. The screen will contain a hidden HD IR camera and microphone that will pop up only when the PC is on, to give users more privacy.
It will feature four USB 3.0 ports, two HDMI ports and all sorts of connectivity features for more accessibility. Its Intel processors will be from the 6th generation, either i5 or i7. It will be able to hold a maximum of 16GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.
It can also feature an optional NVIDIA GTX 950M graphics card and will reportedly have a starting price of $1,299.99
