WhatsApp is probably the single most famous cross-platform chat application used around the World. Owned by Facebook, the messenger connects millions of devices every day, allowing users to exchange messages and media over the Internet. Here is how to use two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone.

Like with Facebook, Instagram and other chat applications, WhatsApp does not support multiple user logins on the same device. However, if you have a dual-SIM Android device, there are ways to get around this shortcoming; allowing you to use two active accounts on WhatsApp on the same device.

There are three ways to go with this.

If you have an Android Lollipop device

Those of you with Android devices that run on the Lollipop platform can go about with it the easiest way. These devices have the ability to allow multiple user accounts on the phone itself.

All you have to do is:

  • Go to ‘Settings’, hit ‘Users’ and ‘Add another user’
  • Set up the new user account by filling in the details
  • Switch to the new account from the notification center
  • Install WhatsApp on the new user account interface
  • Set up WhatsApp with your other number as usual

If you have a rooted Android phone

Those with rooted devices need to simply download a third party application like ‘Whazzap’ or ‘SwtichMe’ that will enable you to have multiple accounts with your app. Simply download any, scan the file for viruses and install them with a computer.

If you don’t have a rooted phone

For those of you who prefer not to meddle with your phone, you could still get third party applications that will enable you to use two accounts with your chat app.

You can look to download apps like Whatsmapp or OGWhatsApp.

Using two accounts on WhatsApp helps segment professional and personal groups allowing for better communication. So go ahead and try one of these workarounds if you use a dual-SIM Android device.
