Casio has announced that its smartwatch, WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch, will go on sale starting March 25. The Android Wear gadget was first launched at CES 2016. The smartwatch is priced at $500. As for the platforms at which the gadget will go on sale, it will be available via the company’s website, the Google Store and Amazon. It comes in a quartet of colors; including green, orange, black and red, which does help in the overall look of the device.
WSD-F10 has a number of specialized watch faces, which Casio refers to as “tools”, that give users easy access to information about altitude, tides, sunrise and sunset times, air pressure, and compass directions. There are physical buttons so the watch can be used while wearing gloves, and the device comes preloaded with a number of on-theme apps, including RunKeeper, ViewRanger, and MyRadar. You just need to remember to bring a battery pack if you’re going on a multi-day trip.
The Watch is humongous compared to some counterparts currently out there, with 320X320 resolution watch face that is 1.3 inches wide and big chunky borders to accompany it. However, do keep in mind that the device is meant for outdoor activities, not fancy wearing. The weight of the watch is also on the higher side at 90 grams.
Furthermore, Casio uses a US military standard MIL-STD0810 of dust and shock resistance and is waterproof to 50m. As for the other features, to save battery, the device comes with a second monochrome display that can be used instead of the colored panel as it takes up more energy. However, this will disengage all the sensors and the longevity of the battery goes up to a month of usage.
As of now, there is no information of the under the hood specifications of the device. We will surely update when the information is available.
