The American phone maker BLU Products recently launched its latest flagship smartphone: the BLU Pure XR. The device is the result of collaboration between the manufacturer and the Taiwanese company MediaTek. BLU issued a press release announcing the release of the handset on August 29.

The Pure XR launch follows a successful round of premium releases by BLU. The Miami-based company focuses on producing quality devices at accessible prices. Earlier this year BLU revealed two devices: the entry-level Vivo XL and the high-end Energy XL for $100 and $300 respectively.

Like many other BLU devices, the Pure XR packs some top-tier features in a solidly built phone. The ‘Bold Like Us’ unlocked smartphone is readily available for purchase at Amazon and Best Buy for $299.

BLU Pure XR: Design and Display

The BLU Pure XR comes built in a 7000 Series aluminum body. It measures a little over 6 inches tall and has a thickness of just 7 mm, weighing just under 150 g overall. The metal casing comes available in Gold and Gray.

The device packs a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED curved display with full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection coats the unique curved display on the Pure XR.

BLU also includes a new feature in its latest flagship smartphone, dubbed ‘Advanced 3D Touch’ by the company. Advanced 3D Touch allows users to open and preview apps on the home screen based on pressure-based gestures. If it sounds familiar, it may be because Apple initially introduced a similar technology in its last generation of iPhone devices.

Specs and Features of the BLU Pure XR

Other than its curved display, the BLU Pure XR is highly reminiscent of the iPhone 6, from its aluminum body to its rounded edges. Moreover, the Home button on the Pure XR also has a One Touch fingerprint sensor and scanner for secure unlocking.

Under the hood, the phone packs an octa-core 2.0 GHz MediaTek 6755 processor, with a Mali-T860 GPU. BLU packs a massive 64 GB of base storage on its latest device along with an equally impressive 4 GB of RAM. The Pure XR supports two SIM cards and shares the second SIM slot for microSD memory expansion up to another 64 GB.

A 3,000 mAh non-removable battery powers the BLU Pure XR and a 9V/2A fast charger offers up to 1 hour of power with ten minutes of charge through its USB Type-C port. The device sports a 16 MP rear camera and an 8 MP selfie camera with LED flash.

The BLU device runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box, and it is on sale for $299 on Amazon and Best Buy right now.
