Google usually launches a new phone every year, and in 2015 it launched two, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. So are we to see upgraded versions of the Nexus 5 or Nexus 6 again?
Or will we jump right to the much anticipated Nexus 7 2016 tablet this year?
Regarding the release date; There has been much talk about the announcement of the Nexus 7 during the upcoming Google I/O.
We’ve expected the new Google tablet to come with the Android N. Considering that Google said it would release five preview versions before the final version, we are not likely to see Android N pre-loaded on the new Nexus 7 f it does launch during Google I/O.
If it doesn’t come out next week, we expect to see a Nexus 7, if any, much during the same time as the last Nexus device was released: October.
Price
The Nexus 7’s 2016 predecessor, the 2013 model, manufactured by Asus, retailed for £199. Therefore, we expect to see the upcoming tablet released in the $300 – $350 price frame.
Specifications and Features
If rumors are correct, you may see the new Nexus 7 built purely by Google. Unlike its manufacturing tie-up with LG, Google may solely work with HTC this year for both its smartphone and tablet series, but that’s not affirmed by Google yet.
A tweet from a reliable source @evleaks said in a twitter post that HTC is building a pair of Android N devices, cloaked and dubbed as M1 and S1.
Considering the Nexus 6P came along with a Snapdragon 810 chipset, we expect the Nexus 7 to house the latest Snapdragon 820 chip.
It may be seen with a quad-core Kyro processor, an X8 LTE modem (capable of 33% faster network speeds), 15% improvement in battery life, as well as an Adreno 530 GPU which brings dramatic improvement to graphics over older kits.
What we can tell you is that you may see the same Quad-HD screen on the upcoming tablet and not a 4K one, since Sony has not managed to woo users with their latest release.
