LG Electronics, the primary subsidiary of the South Korean multinational LG Corporation, issued a press release featuring three new monitors for its 21:9 UltraWide product lineup. The star of the announcement was a 38-inch curved monitor dubbed “The World’s Largest UltraWide Monitor”.
The unveiling follows Samsung’s announcement of two own curved screens based on the new quantum dot technology. Furthermore, Apple is also expected to reveal the next generation of standalone monitors in the upcoming months, as it recently discontinued the Thunderbolt Display in late June.
LG’s will officially showcase its new monitors at the Internationale Funkaustellung Berlin (IFA) 2016, the largest home technology exhibition in Europe. The event will take place in the German capital from September 2 to September 7, and those in attendance will find the UltraWide monitors at LG’s booth in Hall 18.
‘The World’s Largest UltraWide Monitor’ supports USB-C connectivity
LG spearheads the super-monitor market with its new 38UC99 curved monitor, designed to meet the highest expectations of both image professionals and ambitious gamers. The 38-inch wide display has an UltraWide Quad HD+ resolution of 3840 x 1600 backed by its In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. Moreover, the high-end monitor is capable of covering nearly the entire spectrum of sRGB color space at a 99% rate.
The 38UC99 includes a pioneering feature in the world of premium displays in the form of a USB Type-C port. The port not only allows users to connect devices and broadcast data but also charge them by connecting them to the monitor.
LG also packs a pair of built-in 10W speakers on the UltraWide display, compatible with Bluetooth devices to play music in the 85 Hz bass range. For video and games, the LG monitor also supports Motion Blur Reduction to provide smooth media playback.
LG thinks big for high-end users and gamers
Along with the 38UC99, LG unveiled the 34UM79M and the 34UC79G monitors for other core audiences.
The 34UM79M is a flat monitor aimed at professionals looking for a powerful display for both work and play. The 34-inch monitor has similar features to its 38-inch big brother including IPS display technology. Main innovations on the UltraWide display are built-in Google Cast for all potential streaming needs, and Split Screen 2.0 to work simultaneously with various screen layouts.
On the other hand, LG brings the 34UC79G monitor to the gaming community packed with features that seek to provide an enhanced playing experience. The 34-inch curved monitor has a 144 Hz refresh rate and Motion Blur Reduction to play games in a silky-smooth fashion.
Furthermore, the UltraWide display supports Black Stabilizer, Dynamic Action Sync, and AMD Free Sync for input with clearer contrast and no lag or stuttering.
All three monitors will go on sale at various retailers in the U.S. between September and November 2016.
