Thieves made their way into Drake’s ‘Summer Sixteen’ tour bus and robbed between $2 and $3 million worth of jewelry and property from his DJ, Future the Prince. The millionaire heist apparently took place last night while the ‘One Dance’ interpreter performed one of his tour dates in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Hollywood news outlet TMZ was the first to break the news, even obtaining a video of the rapper’s reaction. The footage shows a visibly upset Drake clapping his hands, walking fast and agitated after presumably learning the news.
The show at the Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix, Arizona also featured the acclaimed rapper Future. His presence has led to some confusion among reports of the robbery, as outlets claimed the jewelry belonged to Future.
However, the two rappers only shared the stage, and it was Future the Prince, Drake’s in-house DJ, the one who owned the stolen goods.
DJ Future the Prince’s briefcase had millions of dollars worth in jewelry
TMZ reported their correspondents spoke with both Talking Stick Arena security authorities and the Phoenix Police Department.
While both agencies are looking into the incident, it is currently unknown if the perpetrators were several people or just one. After all, the reported robbery consisted of just one briefcase containing several jewelry pieces from DJ Future the Prince.
Police detectives are working with the venue and reviewing their security footage to get some clues or further details of the crime. The multi-million dollar heist most likely happened last night during Drake’s live performance when all the artists and crew were on stage.
The ongoing investigation has allegedly narrowed down the timeframe of the crime between 10:00 and 10:15 pm. Several news and media outlets have reached out to Drake’s representatives, but they have offered no official comments on the issue.
The Talking Stick Arena has also been quiet, and Future’s PR people have also said nothing concerning the $3 million robbery.
Drake’s ‘Summer Sixteen’ Tour has been full of ups and downs
Despite performing consistent, great shows over the span of his three-month-long ‘Summer Sixteen’ tour, Drake has been in the spotlight for different controversies all along.
Last month Drake revived an unfolding beef with the Philadelphia rapper, Meek Mill, calling him out during a live performance in his hometown at the Wells Fargo Center.
Meek Mill then reportedly tried to retaliate by frustrating Drizzy’s attempts to throw an afterparty at a local nightclub. He failed to do so since the ‘Hotline Bling’ interpreter was hanging out with hip-hop authority J. Prince.
However, not everything has been bad for the former ‘Degrassi’ star. Following a public love confession to the pop artist Rihanna at the MTV VMA’s last month, Drake and the ‘Umbrella’ singer are now officially dating.
This time, it looks like the real deal, as they have been seen in public together numerous times, and the Barbados native even got a tattoo that references her relationship with Drake.
