Triumph Motorcycles revealed the 2017 Triumph Bonneville Bobber. The Bobber is premium factory custom motorcycle that tributes the American Bobber choppers of the ‘30s. It is a modern classic that rivals those as the Harley-Davidson Sportster.
Regarding design, the Bobber is very different from other Bonneville bikes in Triumph’s catalog. The company names its machine as their “brutal beauty.” It features a classic retro look, hot rod minimalism, and peerless authenticity.
The Bonneville Bobber comes will the hallmark features of classic stripped back custom rides: clean lines, wide flat bars, low single seat pan with hard tail look, sculpted fuel tank, rear wire spoked wheels, narrow wide and front, and minimal headlight and mudguards with center ridge.
It features a first-in-class adjustable riding position
The Bobber has a first-of-its-kind adjustable seat that tailors to the size and riding style of the pilot. The aluminum seat can move up, down, backward and forward, allowing rides to set the position “up and forward” for a dynamic ride, or “down and back” for a traditional Bobber stance.
The clock position also moves with a simple quick-release of the mechanism. It allows owners to change the angle and suit the riding position.
Other notable differences with retro models are that the indicator, tail lamp, and number plate on the rear are all LED. On the front, the bike sports shorter front forks to aid the riders handling.
The powerhouse of the Bonneville Bobber
The bike is very similar to the Bonneville T120, but it packs various improvements, including sound filters surrounding in old-style Bonneville hot rod roar.
Triumph tweaked the engine to ensure better performance with the 1200cc high-torque eight-valve motor. To maximize the powertrain, the Bobber has a new twin airbox and twin filter set-up, a new intake and exhaust system and a unique output shaft.
All of the electrical components are hidden, so the bike looks as clean as possible. They include the ABS, the torque assist clutch, traction control and the new version of the ride-by-wire system.
Ryde-by-wire improves throttle control and gives the bike two riding modes, wet and road, for greater safety. The driver can access the options via the handlebar-mounted switch gear.
The liquid cooling for greater fuel efficiency. The improvements ensure the Bobber will ask for its first major service interval at 10,000, reducing the costs of ownership.
The bike also sports an all-new chassis and suspension to deliver premium dynamic comfort. Riders will enjoy an elegant “swing cage” hard tail set-up and hidden mono-shock suspension that makes the bobber as thrilling to ride as it looks.
Price and release date for the Bonneville Bobber
The Bonneville Bobber will be available with four color choices: Modello Red, Competition Green, Jet Black and Frozen Silver.
The company will announce the price of the bikes in December and then follow for an international release on 2017.
