The latest Android smartphone by Nokia has leaked online, and it is called the Nokia P1. Rumors point at the device being a high-end flagship that the company could unveil later this month at the Mobile World Congress.

The Nokia P1 would come after the massive hit that was the Nokia 6, the firm’s first smartphone under their new partnership with HMD Global. The budget handset sold in under a minute in China on its launch day.

Nokia is currently working on several mobile devices at once, including a large tablet, more accessible smartphones, and their always reliable feature phones. The Finnish company is quickly positioning itself once again in the market as a force to be reckoned with.

Nokia P1: Rumored specs, design, and features

The YouTube channel Concept Creator rendered a couple of videos of the Nokia P1 based on the leaked specifications, giving us a first look at what could be the next worthy contender in the high-end tier of Android flagships.

Rumors suggest the Nokia P1 will come in a full metal frame and back, available in three different colors: Silver, Black, and Rose Gold. It will have IP57 certification, making it resistant to water and dust.

The device will measure approximately 6 inches, and it will have physical buttons for power, volume, and home. The display will occupy from 5.3 to 5.5 inches, and it will have full HD or QHD resolutions protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The most interesting part about the Nokia P1 is perhaps what is under the hood. The flagship will reportedly pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, although it seems unlikely if it is to launch at MWC 2017.

Other than that, the next Android phone by Nokia will reportedly be available in two storage configurations: 128 GB and 256 GB. Both models will come with 6 GB of RAM and a hybrid slot on the side for SIM cards and microSD memories.

Nokia’s flagship will feature a 22.3 MP camera with a Carl Zeiss lens on the rear and a fingerprint reader embedded in the home button. There is also a selfie camera and a front facing speaker at the top.

The smartphone will support fast charging for the 3,500 mAh battery that powers it via USB-C. There will also be a headphone jack at the bottom.

Nokia P1: Rumored price and availability

Online gossip places the 128 GB Nokia P1 at a starting price of $800 while the 256 GB version could cost as much as $950.

Availability upon launch for the phone is anyone’s guess at this point, but given the incredible success the Nokia 6 has had in China, it is not crazy to think HMD Global will adopt the same strategy with their first flagship.

If anything, enthusiasts expect that the Mobile World Congress will serve as a stage for Nokia to go big on this launch, announcing a wider release for the P1 in Europe or America before the summer.

Neither Nokia nor HMD Global have confirmed nor denied this last round of rumors.
