Huawei’s latest smartphone, the Honor V8, is an upgrade to its predecessor the Honor 7. A closer look at the phone will tell you the specifications and features are closely similar to the ones on Huawei’s last release, the P9 and P9 Plus.

Here is all the info you need to know about Honor V8’s price, specs and availability.

Pricing and Availability

Huawei held an event in China on the 10th of May 2016, where it announced the new Honor V8. Pre-registrations have already begun for the sale of the smartphone in China, with the first flash sale on the 17th of May.

Other world markets will probably receive the phone soon in the coming months, but no official statement sets a time frame regarding the particular release.

Huawei launched the Honor V8 with two storage options; 32GB and 64GB. While the former will cost approximately $350, the latter will be made available for a price of $420.

Specifications and Features

As mentioned earlier, the Honor V8 will be available in two variants- 32GB and 64GB of internal storage. While the former comes along with a full-HD display screen, the latter sports a QHD display screen.

The new phone comes along with a 5.7” display and runs on an octa-core Kirin 950 chipset with two processors; quad-core Cortex-A72 and quad-core Cortex-A53, that clock at 2.5GHz and 1.8GHz respectively.

Graphics on the phone are supported with a Mali T880 GPU kit along with 4GB of onboard RAM. Memory can be expanded externally up to 128GB with the use of a micro-SD card. If you decide to use two SIM-cards on the phone, you will not be able to simultaneously insert a memory card.

The rear of the Honor V8 comes with a dual-camera setup, like on the P9, which is 12MP and has auto-focus, dual-tone LED flash and a BSI sensor. The front of the phone sports an 8MP lens for selfies and video calls.

A whopping 3,500mAh battery keeps the juice running, which should easily provide for extended usage cycles and comes along with Android’s Marshmallow 6.0 pre-loaded on it, with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 skin running atop.

Like most flagship smartphones, the Honor V8 comes along with a fingerprint scanner at the rear, a gravity sensor, an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, a gyroscope and a magnetometer.

When rolled out, you will be able to purchase the Honor V8 in the colors of Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, Platinum Gold and Glacier Silver.
