Finding flights and hotels online just got easier than ever. Google’s travel arranging client Google Flights just added new functions just in time for the holiday season, including price-tracking notifications for flights and hotel reservations. The platform will introduce further features in the coming weeks.

The announcement by Google is the latest in a series of updates to its lineup of products and services. Most recently, the tech giant gave priority to its new messaging apps Duo and Allo by including them as pre-uploaded apps across the most recently released Android devices.

Google also held an event earlier this month to formalize its ‘Made by Google’ brand, introducing several pieces of hardware including the flagship Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. Google WiFi, Chromecast Ultra, and Google Home also made a debut.

Book cheaper flights faster with Google Flights

Google’s travel booking platform has learned from its users how cumbersome it can be to make the best arrangements possible for a long-awaited trip. Several similar sites offer extensive information on all available options for travelers, but the interface on them may not be the most user-friendly or helpful at times.

For this reason, it is not enough for Google Flights to provide just a comprehensive rundown of flights and hotels. The site is now aiming at making travelers’ lives easier by instantly recommending them the best prices in advance so they can take advantage of the deals available at the time or in the future.

Before, looking for a flight on Google’s flight-searching tool prompted results for all the flights available, showing relevant information such as price, time of departure and landing. Now, it shows pop-up notification cards on top of the flight information to see when current fares expire and when prices may go up or down.

Moreover, Google Flights will now offer the option to track flights or routes without compromises, in case you are planning a trip in advance. The platform will notify users about sudden changes and the best opportunities for the road in the future.

Google Flights allows you to plan your stay in advance

The flight-searching tool also wants travelers to discover the world. Therefore, the app dedicated an ‘Explore’ button to show all direct flights from the user’s location to remote destinations.

Similar functionalities are coming to the hotel search side of Google Flights as well. The platform will provide details on hotel reservations within a date range and location in advance, and it will notify users about official deals from hospitality providers.

The update to the built-in Google tool will roll out progressively in all the locations where it is currently available. Users in the U.S. can enjoy these new Google Flights features right now.
