Taco Bell, one of the leading fast food chains in the United States, has announced their new $5 Big Box which will feature the new Cheddar Habanero Quesarito and the opportunity to win a PlayStation VR bundle before it gets its official release in October. Taco Bell will select a winner every 15 minutes starting from September 15th until October 19th, the total amount of winners will be of 3,360. The total worth of these bundles is close to $1.7 million.
Sony America confirmed this partnership, and the promotion via their official blog. Sony Entertainment showed a picture with the elements of this bundle, so far it has been confirmed that it will contain a PlayStation VR set, two PlayStation motion controllers, a PlayStation camera and $40 in a PlayStation Store card.
The PlayStation VR is the most important gadget that Sony is currently working on for the PlayStation 4. The project started back in 2010 as a way to introduce Virtual Reality into home consoles and was originally named Project Morpheus. It was until the last E3 when Sony officially confirmed its existence and release date for October 19th, 2016. The official price of the gadget alone is $500 at any local retailer.
The codes for the giveaway will be located on the side of the Big Box. Customers may redeem it using the official website for the contest, but they are limited to only one code per day. In case that the current stock of Big Boxes ends customers may request their codes using their receipts via e-mail. Taco Bell will release the official address in the following days.
“WE’RE PARTICULARLY EXCITED TO BE GIVING PEOPLE THE CHANCE TO BE AMONG THE FIRST TO ACCESS THE HOTTEST TECH THIS SEASON WITH PLAYSTATION VR,” stated Marisa Thalberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Taco Bell.
She issued a public declaration at Taco Bell headquarters explaining the rules for the contest and how customers may redeem their codes online or consult via text message at the number 72823 if their number is a winner.
Taco Bell’s long History alongside PlayStation
As odd as it may sound, this is not the first time that Taco Bell works alongside PlayStation to deliver promotions with their meals. Back in 2014 they held a similar type of contest using the Big Box and featuring codes for a newly PlayStation 4.
Just a year after the PlayStation 4 giveaway, Taco Bell organized another one using the Big Box meal again. This time, Sony gave the white Destiny version of the PlayStation 4, alongside the game. This new bundle had sold out at Amazon just a few hours after its initial release as Destiny was one of the biggest hits for the console.
Finally, Taco Bell held a promotion last year for a golden version of the PlayStation 4 with an approximate cost of $1,000 in online reselling websites. Many customers have discussed via twitter their approval of these yearly campaigns giving positive reviews to both Taco Bell and Sony for these exciting events.
