War Dogs, a film starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller already have its online review, one day before its official release August 19. It is a biographical crime war comedy film set in the last years of the former President of the United States, George W. Bush, tenure.

The story follows Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill) and David Packouz (Miles Teller), two Miami Beach war profiteers who took advantage of the country’s conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and became very recognized and influential as global arms traders for a while.

In real life, Diveroli and Packouz’s story is very problematic. They met in Miami at their synagogue and became good friends. After a while, Diveroli was kicked out of high school in the ninth grade and went to work for his family business in Los Angeles.

The Diveroli family specialized in the arms trade, and little Efraim had it in his blood. Years later he returned to Miami and reconnected with Packouz who was working as a massage therapist while selling bedsheets to nursing homes.

Diveroli eventually offered Packouz the chance of joining him as a business associate. David wanted to be rich, so he did not hesitate and accepted the offer. They took on the term War Dogs, one that people give to hustlers just like them.

The film’s director Todd Phillips wrote the script alongside Jason Smilovic and Stephen Chin. It was produced by Mar Gordon, Phillips, and famous actor Bradley Cooper, who also appears in the movie as Henry Girard.

Phillips is best known for directing comedies like ‘The Hangover’ and ‘Old School’

He is famous for working on stories that talk about grown men bonding. There is usually a complicated situation, which triggers the plot, and his movies often focus on how they get out of problems. However,  he said that what attracted him to the story was the circumstances in which the characters took part of, instead of the bonding part.

“I LIKE SITUATIONS IN WHICH CHARACTERS, WHETHER THEY’RE MALE OR FEMALE, MAKE BAD DECISIONS AND GET THEMSELVES IN OVER THEIR HEADS,” said the director “I’M JUST SORT OF ATTRACTED TO CHAOS.”

The movie is an adaption from a 2011 Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson, who later wrote a book about it called ‘Arms and the Dudes.’ Production shot the film in Romania, on March 2, 2015.

War Dogs debuted in New York City on August 3, and it will officially release today.
