U.S. San Francisco, Calif. – Three days to go to TechCrunch Disrupt, the world’s largest event for revolutionary startups in San Francisco Pier 48, California.
On Sep. 12, Disrupt will gather the brightest entrepreneurs, hackers, investors, venture capitalist and overall tech fans for an on-stage conference, interviews, competitions, exhibitions, and an all-around set up to debut as a startup.
On the main event – the Startup Battlefields – debuting companies and ventures have a real chance to get into the big leagues. To date, 76 participants in the startup competition have either gone public or joined a big enterprise, like last year’s winners who joined Snapchat and Microsoft.
Disrupt SF also counts with keynote speakers from all areas giving inside about current tech landscape. Some of them will be U.S Secretary of Defense Ash Carter; HBO’s Silicon Valley creator Mike Judge; Google Drive chief Diana Greene; and Pokémon Go CEO John Hanke.
Overall, the event will have over 5,000 attendees, most of them technologist, investors, entrepreneurs, and the media. Also, there will be more than 500 companies showcasing their products over the three days in the Startup Alley.
The Startup Battlefield is the world’s leading startup competition and is the heart of Disrupt SF
The Battlefield watches how startup founders expose their live investments in a big hall. Startup teams have under six minutes to explain their projects to a panel of judges and expect a definite answer in the form of funds and praise.
Participants of the contest had to apply beforehand and pass in a minimum of two pitch coaching sessions. These courses ensure that ventures are ready to communicate their visions to an audience.
2016 Disrupt will have 23 companies showcasing to a panel of judges made by investors. Previous winners of the challenge include Dropbox and Yammer.
The second main event is the Hackathon, where developers and engineers take part of a 24-hour test to create from scratch a new product and present it on stage.
