Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) launched the Surface Pro 4 straight to the professional market, so the ultrathin tablet & laptop crossover is full of features for designers and editors.
One of those is the $99, 99 Dial peripheral, a new way to interact with the Surface’s screen and a useful tool for the creative process. It has easy access to shortcuts, controls, drawing tools and more.
It is yet another perk for the ultra thin and versatile Surface Pro 4, both a powerful tablet and a full laptop workstation. Microsoft assures the Surface is twice as fast than 2016 13-inch MacBook Air.
Here are some of the features the Surface Dial has to offer to the tablet&laptop. Additional features of the Surface Dial will only work with the high-end Microsoft Surface Studio.
Microsoft expects developers will take advantage of the Dial and add more features to the peripheral. It is important to note users must pluck to Dial on the Surface screen to make it work.
Edit and rotate your creations
The 12.3’’ high-resolution PixelSense screen has 267 pixels per inch (PPI) and has a range of 5 million pixels. It also shows text like a printed page with high-contrast and easy on the eye display.
Microsoft designed the screen so that users can touch and write on with the pen. The Surface Pro 4 Pen works alongside any professional software to write, draw, design, edit, and take notes.
The dial allows users to interact with their creations on a new level. They can rotate the screen or turn it upside down to work on different angles and achieve a finer level of control, or they can zoom in and out with simple movements of the peripheral.
With the Dial in one hand and the Pen on the other, users can unlock easy access to controls, drawing tools and shortcuts. There is also the option to customize gestures so the Dial could do the task of any physical tool on the Surface.
Easy transition through different tasks
Users can hold the Surface Dial to display a radial menu of tools, making it faster to do the things while supporting the workflow.
The dial can adjust the volume of any track on Spotify, Groove, and Pandora. Or it can scroll through web sites and articles without using the keyboard or mouse.
Give live to your work
The Surface Dial provides vibrations through its aluminum body into the user’s fingertips. It helps designers stay in touch with their creations and feel they can touch their digital work. The Surface Dial also gives quick access to the brush settings the users chooses the most.
Where to buy the Surface Pro 4 and the Dial?
Surface Pro 4 has between 256GB to 1TB storage memory, up to 16GB DDR3 RAM and either dual-core m3, i5 or i7 6th generation Intel Core processors. Starting price is $899.
There are Surface Pro 4 Black Friday Deals, but there is currently a better promotion on the official retailer, a $200 discount for the Surface Pro 4 with Intel Core i7 processor, so the price tag is $1,599 for 256GB and 16GB RAM; and $1,399 for 256GB storage and 8GB RAM.
And the Surface Pro Dial is also available at Microsoft’s digital store, as well as select retailers like BestBuy.
“Doctor Strange” Executive Producer Victoria Alonso from Marvel Studios already endorsed the Surface Pro 4. Microsoft’s power tablet was robust enough to design set pieces and costumes for the MCU.
