Need for Speed. Game or real life?

Ghost Games’ Need for Speed engine produces images that are so close to real-life, they’re hard to differentiate.

The upcoming Need for Speed’s showings looked so realistic both in the reveal trailer and it’s gameplay demo. If it looks this good while being rendered real-time, this will be the best looking NFS game to date.

Developer, Ghost Games, did not release an in-game screenshot today. However, they did render a scene in-engine and put it side-by-side with a real-life photo to show off how good the game looks.

NFS comparison to real-life

“Our aim with this process was to make use of the Physically Based Rendering (PBR) capabilities of our Frostbite engine to create accurate real-world materials, surfaces and lighting to reach a life-like visual image,” says Bryn Alban, the game’s vehicle art director.
