Sony has launched two new smartphones, the Sony Xperia X Performance, Xpera X and Xperia XA, at today’s MWC 2016 press conference.
The company has touted these handsets to feature “next-generation technologies in camera, battery, and design”. So, without any further ado, let’s take a closer look at the latest offerings by the Japanese tech giant.

Design
Like some of its rivals, the smartphone manufacturer has also decided to go with a curved-glass display that’s set within a rounded continuous frame. This design pattern is same for both the Xperia X and Xperia XA.
Dimensionally, the X measures 142.7 x 69.4 x 7.9 mm (5.62 x 2.73 x 0.31 in) and weighs 153 g (5.40 oz).
As for the XA, it measures 143.6 x 66.8 x 7.9 mm (5.65 x 2.63 x 0.31 in) and weighs 137.4 g (4.83 oz).
Finally, the X Performance measures 144.8 x 71.1 x 7.6 mm (5.70 x 2.80 x 0.30 in) and weighs 165 g (5.82 oz)
Specs and Software
Xperia X
The Sony Xperia X sports a 5.0- inches wide IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of (~441 ppi pixel density) pixels (~441 ppi pixel density) and 16M colors.
Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6755 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage and Adreno 510 GPU. Built-in storage is expandable via microSD card up to 200GB.
Camera wise, the primary shooter, located at the rear, shoots at 23MP and packs 1/2.3″ sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR. The secondary ‘selfies’ camera, embed on the front, comes with a 13MP sensor.
To accommodate the HD 5.0-inch screen, Sony has backed the device up with a removable 2,620mAh battery.
The phablet will come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow straight out of the box.
Connectivity wise, the device features Wifi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 along with support for LTE/3G/2G networks.
Xperia XA
The Sony Xperia XA sports a 5.0 inches wide IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and 16M colors.
Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 650 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. Built-in storage is expandable via microSD card up to 200GB.
Camera wise, the primary shooter, located at the rear, shoots at 13MP and packs 1/3″ sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR. The secondary ‘selfies’ camera, embed on the front, comes with an 8MP sensor.
To accommodate the HD 5.0-inch screen, Sony has backed the device up with a removable 2,620mAh battery.
The phablet will come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow straight out of the box.

Xperia X Performance
Last but not the least, the Sony Xperia X Performance sports a 5.0 inches wide IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (~441 ppi pixel density) and 16M colors.
Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and Adreno 530 GPU. Built-in storage is expandable via microSD card up to 200GB.
Camera wise, the primary shooter, located at the rear, shoots at 23 MP and packs 1/2.3″ sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR. The secondary ‘selfies’ camera, embed on the front, comes with a 13MP sensor.

Pricing and Availablity
Sony has announced that the three devices will be shipped sometime in Summer 2016. The exact pricing is yet to be unveiled, though judging from former versions, we estimate that all the three smartphones’ price frame will be around $300-$450.
