On Tuesday, French game studio Ubisoft officially announced the close beta for the upcoming open-world shooter Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Fans can sing up as of December 6 at the link down below for a chance to join the beta test of the game. There is no word about how Ubisoft will select its participants.
On November, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said there would be Tom Clancy’s multiple betas before the game’s release, including an open beta test where everyone could get to try out Wildlands if they want.
The stage for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is Bolivia, South America. Established in a near future (“a few years from now”), the game sees players going destroying a powerful drug cartel from within.
Ghost Recon’s Wildlands set the plot in South America
The characters will receive missions to stop every aspect of the Santa Blanca Cartel’s operation, including production, smuggling, influence, and security. Players can complete the missions however and whenever they want, while the world will react to their actions.
The game is playable solo or in a team up to four players in online co-op. However, there is no persistent multiplayer world like in Ubisoft’s The Division.
Wildlands offers complete freedom to the players
Ubisoft explains the game will not force characters to accomplish a mission, and that there are not penalties for any given playstyle, and there is a broad range of tools to advance the play through, including choppers, assault vehicles, heavy weapons, stealth mode, and recon drones.
The enemy AI will react differently according to what the user is doing. If the players are going stealth, then the AI will try to send patrols and detect him. Or is the player is going all guns blazing into a camp, the Cartel will send motorized reinforcements?
Players will also have the option to issue orders to their AI squad thanks to the command wheel. The squads are up to for players, but the user may always go solo.
Recon will be an important aspect of the game, as it allows players to check every aspect of the game and the missions.
Notably, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands will enable players to customize their characters fully, but there will be four archetypes ready to choose from the get go, each with their set of roles and skills.
