Samsung Electronics has had a wild couple of weeks, announcing new products led by the crown jewel: the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. The phone will go on sale this month, but the company has hinted at other devices coming soon.
The South Korean tech giant recently released projections for the first financial quarter of the year, saying they expect a big jump in profits close to the 50% mark year-over-year. That amounts to almost $9 billion.
Samsung is almost literally rising from the ashes, after facing a shameful episode late last year with the incident involving the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The explosive device cost billions in revenue to the company.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+
The latest flagship by Samsung has finally arrived, and it will debut on the market this April 21. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will continue the legacy of the Galaxy lineup offering excellent performance and a bold new design.
Their most striking feature is the Infinity Display, which leaves the phone almost bezel-less by occupying up to 80% of the front of the phone. There will also be a variety of colors available, and the chip inside will depend on your location.
Samsung’s AI assistant, Bixby, will come installed on the S8 and S8+ and it will have its physical button. The new Android flagship starts at $749.99 from carriers and select retailers.
Samsung Gear 360 (2017)
Also introduced late last month was the new version of the Samsung Gear 360. The connected camera has gained new capabilities, like 4K video recording and compatibility with Apple devices.
It sports a new body design that makes it easier to hold in your hand and take pictures, shoot video, or broadcast live in five different view modes: 360-degree, stretched, round, dual, and panoramic view.
The Gear 360 cam is compatible with Galaxy flagships all the way back to the S6 Edge running Android 5.0 or later, and iPhones from the last generation up until the SE running iOS 10.0 or later. It launches this spring at a yet unannounced price.
Samsung 49-inch mega-wide display
Samsung is reportedly working on a massive 49-inch mega-wide monitor, a panel that the company allegedly refers to as ‘Grand Circle’ format due to its 32:9 aspect ratio.
The tech giant will start producing the display in September this year, and it will have a curvature of 1800R. Its resolutions will be Double Full HD (DFHD) at 3840 x 1080, and it will offer refresh rates of up to 144Hz for gamers.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Last but not least, there are increasing rumors the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will follow the same design line started by the S8 and S8+.
Most notably, the Note 8 is reported to pack features that Samsung could not include in time on the S8. These include an on-screen fingerprint sensor and better, dual cameras as the main optics of the device.
The company is still a way off from hinting at anything conclusive about the Note 7 successor, but it is speculated that it will carry the signature S Pen and a new 9-series Exynos processor for general consumers outside the U.S.
