Samsung Electronics has finally unveiled the brand new Samsung Galaxy S9 at the Mobile World Congress 2018, accompanied by the Galaxy S9 Plus. The device, which was leaked prior to its announcement, is using the word “Reimagine” as a slogan due to its apparent intent to reinvent the smartphone.
Including brand new features the company has not equipped before, the phone is said to be the future best smartphone Samsung Electronics has released to date.
The Galaxy S9, already available for pre-order, will be officially and globally released to the public on March 16th, 2018.
Samsung Galaxy S9: highlight features
With the most advanced camera a Samsung phone has ever had and a headphone jack which phones nowadays have skipped due to wireless headphones (and faced backlash over doing so), the Galaxy S9 has come out with a bang that includes a long list of brand new features that may very well make the competition between Apple and Samsung more interesting.
The design is mostly similar to the Samsung S8, but includes new features like water resistance, making the user able to use the phone “rain or shine”. It also added a “super slow-mo” camera, and it automatically adjusts to the aperture the user is shooting, much like humans adapting to changing light.
Following the Animoji trend, Samsung has also added “AR Emoji”, which uses augmented reality and the phone’s frontal camera to create a Bitmoji-like avatar. The camera will be able to recognize gestures in order to make a unique and individual character.
There is also live translation, which consists of pointing your phone to a foreign language sign or phrase to have the phone translate it for the user, although it requires a Wi-Fi connection to do this.
When plugged into a PC, the phone can also display computer-like functions which include the ability to drag and drop, adjust screen sizes and view your phone screen in a larger manner.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus: differences
Other than price range, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus hold certain differences. Size, being amongst them, is perhaps the most noticeable at plain view, with the S9 Plus being taller and wider.
Onto bigger differences, the S9 Plus has two cameras on the back, whereas the simple S9 only has one. The second camera allows the user to zoom in with better detail on what they’re shooting.
The S9 Plus also has a more resistant battery life, with two more hours of battery power than the regular S9. The Galaxy S9 includes a battery of 3,000 mAh, whilst the S9 Plus has a 3,500 mAh battery.
