With the release of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in MWC 2016, fans of the South Korean smartphone giant are expecting a lot of new things to come from the phablet. So, with that in mind, we put the S7 Edge next to its predecessor, the S6 Edge, to figure out how much work has been done in this one year time.

Design
There is not much of a difference between the S7 Edge and S6 Edge when it comes to the design. However, the S7 is larger than the S6.
Specs and software
Galaxy S7 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5 inches wide IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and 16M colors.
Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820/ Exynos 8890 Octa processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM at and 32GB of internal storage and Adreno 530/ Mali-T880 MP12 GPU. The internal memory is expandable via external microSD card.
Camera wise, the primary shooter, located on the rear, shoots at 12MP and has an aperture of f/1.7. As for the front camera, the device comes with a 5MP shooter.
In terms of connectivity, the S7 Edge has been fitted with LTE antennas, 3G, GPS (with A-GPS), WiFi, Bluetooth v4.2, FM radio and a Nano-SIM.
To accommodate the HD 5.5-inch screen, Samsung has backed the device up with a humongous non-removable 3,000mAh battery. The device will be featuring quick charging along with wireless charging.
The phablet will come with Android OS V6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box, skinned under Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
Galaxy S6 Edge
As for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, sports 5.1 inches wide IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (~577 ppi pixel density) and 16M colors.
Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by an Exynos 7420 Octa-core processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM at and 32/64/128GB of internal storage and Mali-T760MP8 GPU.
Camera wise, the primary shooter, located on the rear, 16 MP and features f/1.9 aperture along with 28mm sensor, OIS, autofocus, LED flash. As for the front camera, the device comes with a 5MP shooter.
In terms of connectivity, the S6 has been fitted with LTE antennas, 3G, GPS (with A-GPS), WiFi, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB v2.0, FM radio and Nano-SIM.

Samsung has claimed that the S7 Edge is 30% faster in performance than the S6 Edge and 60% faster in graphics rendering.
Pricing and availability
The S6 Edge is priced at $650 – price dropped ahead of S7 Edge launch..
The S7 will start circulation on March 11, setting you back around $750 for the baseline variant.
The Verdict and Should You Upgrade?
If you are looking for a more recent big-screened Edge device, then you should go for the S7 Edge. If you do own the former generation, though, we believe that not much have changed to the degree that it is worth laying another $650+ cold off-contract money, just one year after you purchased the S6 Edge.
