On Friday, Alpine announced its triumphant return with a new sports car ready to make waves around the world: the Alpine Première Édition. Interested customers can reserve one of them through the app with $2,900 deposit.

The Premiere Edition marks the comeback of Alpine to the automotive production scene after more than twenty years of absence. The company ceased operations back in 1995 after 40 years of history in the world of racing and sports vehicles.

The French automaker is a subsidiary of Renault, also a national powerhouse among automakers.

Under the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the organization has seen itself involved mostly in the development of technology for hybrid racecars competing on the world’s top tracks like Le Mans.

Alpine will manufacture fewer than 2,000 Premiere Edition cars on the first production run. The company will start shipping the cars in late 2017, while Japan and the U.K. will get them in 2018.

How to reserve the Alpine Première Édition

The Premiere Edition resembles old-school Alpine models  with a modern twist in its design that gives the car a signature look for the upcoming brand relaunch.

Alpine has provided little to no details about the technical specs of the car other than its acceleration time: 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.

The vehicle will presumably achieve these speeds and performance thanks to one of the many Nissan engine lineups that have made their way into Renault cars through the mutual alliance.

To reserve an Alpine Premiere Edition, people need to download the free app on their Android or iOS device and choose one of the numbers available for their car.

Then, the app will ask them to make a $2,900 (€2,000) deposit to secure their vehicle. This is just a reservation deposit separate from the payment price and taxes depending on the country.

Potential owners will get to choose between three body colors and finishes for their Première Editions: Blue (Bleu Alpine), white (Blanc Solaire), and black (Noir Profonde).

Alpine Première Édition Price and Availability

The Alpine Première Édition will cost between €55,000 and €60,000 in France after tax. This translates to roughly $79,000 and $86,000. The company has yet to confirm if the car will launch in the U.S.

Alpine will produce just 1,955 Premiere Edition vehicles until 2019 approximately. The French automaker will make the car available in eleven countries, with two more joining later in 2018.

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland will be the first to get the Alpine’s sports car in late 2017. Alpine will ship to the U.K. and Japan in 2018.
