Epic Games maintains the hype among MOBA players. The Developer launched a trailer for a new Paragon character named “Narbash” on the Playstation Youtube channel yesterday. The video features an orc-like beast attacking his enemies with a pair of spiked clubs.

Narbash also uses the same weapons to bang a drumset carried on his front to support allies. Paragon’s new hero is a Support Caster and focuses on crowd control and team buffs, according to the game’s creative director, Steve Superville. Narbash will be available for free as a part of Paragon’s next update, coming on August 23.

The new hero comes with unique skills. The “Thunk” ability allows locking down a single target with a stun, while his “March” ability provides a movement speed aura. A third ability called “Song Of My People” emanates a Health Regeneration bonus and an ultimate move, “Crash Bang Boom,” causes enemies to slow down, followed by a final knockout.

The battle arena combines third-person action shooting with RPG elements

Paragon is free-to-play MOBA that features symmetrical maps where two teams of up to 5 players fight each other.

The match ends when any of the teams destroys its rival’s base core. In the game, players are in control of different “heroes”, each one with a unique set of four skills and a fifth ultimate ability.

Skills vary according to the hero’s combat nature; some characters are more focused on offense, others on defense or tanking, and heroes like the new Narbash focus on buffing and team support.

Paragon will feature cross-play between consoles and PCs, according to its producer

Epic Games started to develop Paragon in 2015 after highly successful releases such as Gears of War and the Unreal series, both titles based on the famous Unreal Engine created by the company.

Some of the developer’s staff were passionate about MOBAs; this laid the foundation for the making of the game, according to a statement from Paragon’s producer, John Wasilczyk, during an interview with Gamespot in December 2015.

MOBA players are starting to throw compliments at Paragon

Although the title is currently in beta version, it has gained notoriety already, with a Metacritic user score of 6.3, and an early review from IGN’s David Jagneaux praised the game for its innovative amalgamation of different genres.

“PARAGON IS A HYBRID APPROACH THAT NOT ONLY RETAINS THE IDENTITY OF EACH STYLE OF GAME, BUT LIBERATES THEM IN THEIR SINGULAR GLORY,” he wrote.

Epic Games is currently developing a full Paragon game expected to be released on PS4 and PC later this year. For now, the beta version is available at The Playstation Store and the MOBA’s official website for free.
